Ah landings are the easy bit, slowly lower it down then a little up on the throttle, not too much as she's about to get some lift from the cushion that's building up, then as she does lift lower the throttle until she gently settles onto the skids[...]

Doesn't this run the risk that random turbulence will take you sideways just as you gently settle, with potentially serious consequences ?

I'm not particularly happy with my landings, but I've generally found it safer to drop the last 1" to 1/2". 'Better a bump than a topple', sort of thing.

You can have both a smooth landing and a safe one, just be quick on chopping the throttle or you can indeed run the risk of it being a bit 'tippy'.
