700x around to stay?

Getting back into helis now after an 8 year break flying jets,

i have just ordered a 550x due to them being on offer at the moment, but i would really like the 700x aswell,

question is, due to their being a really low demand in the uk for them, is it likely they will be discontinued soon? i just dont want to end up with a 700 with a slowly diminishing parts supply!

any help would be appreciated

Impossible to know. All helis have a fixed lifespan from the manufacturer, but the 700x hasn't sold massively in the UK. Fwiw, it's a lovely heli and because of the low sales you can normally get a very good deal on them.

Persoannly i crashed mine recently and managed to get all the parts no problem, it was flying again a week later.

How often do you crash!?

Edit. I should add, sales in the uk are low, but the heli is sold worldwide where sales are stronger. I doubt Blade would discontinue it based purely on uk figures!

i dont crash too much, but you never know with these things, i think i am defiantly going to get the 700x as well as long as there is spares backup which there seems to be,

550x should be here tomorrow, going to be fitted out with futaba brushless servos and a cgy750 which i already have ready to go and esc will be a talon 90

cant wait to get back at it, been too long since i flew a heli!

Talon 90 might be a little small for the 550x apart from really gentle wafting around the sky. You'd be better off with something rated to roughly 120A.

I bought the YEP 150A from Hobby King for my 550X. Works a treat.

There's also an ICE2 120HV for sale in the ads section. I'm sure the seller might be open to sensible offers!

Yes, it's what I use on my 550X, but you can buy my second hand ICE2HV ESC for much less! Just come off my 700X and works fine (just wanted to try a Kontronik)

The 700 x as tom said is not that popular in the UK but elsewhere has very good sales.
Parts will be around for a while.
Its a great helicopter flies very nice and smooth and heaps of power

Any tips with the 550? I have ordered a 15 and 16 tooth pinion with the kit is there anything else that needs changing off the bat to save any hassle?

I fly quite hard 3d so don't want any dramas

I use the 16T pinion on mine and find it really makes a difference. Change the stock canopy mounts too for either the Blade CNC ones or the Lynx ones. See my thread on HF ... B550x canopy /servo arms mod - HeliFreak

I'd personally sack that CGY-750 for a kick off, especially if you got it from a fellow Jet Jockey in Darwen

should be here tomorrow, then the mass build session will commence!
