  • Missing washer?

I had a bit of a spill last week bending my feathering shaft so I thought I'd replace it today but on removing the thrust bearings and shaft I think I might have a washer missing.

I have viewed the video on youtube from Horizon Hobby about how to replace the feathering shaft and they talk of and show there being two washers on the inside of the blade grips. I have only one - the brass one. There was no other washer other than the brass one inside the blade grips.

Am I missing that washer or is it OK for it to be missing? The video does show the 450 3D but they say that the 450X should be the same???

    Any help would be appreciated.

Here is a photo of my thrust bearing and washer from one side of the head... sorry it is blurred but you can see only one washer inside...

IIRC, there is a second washer that goes on the screw so that it doesn't push directly onto the outer race. Might be wrong though ...

Have you looked in the manual? The explode diagram and parts list show the assembly sequence quite clearly.

Thanks for that. Just a single washer then... the video is wrong!

You're welcome to compare it to my 450x if you want to double check before flying it.

No guarantee that mine will be correct though, after the none binding fiasco I don't have a lot of faith in the rest of it. :-)

Thanks for that kind offer but I think that as SGD says... it is quite clear from the diagram that what I have is correct.

I wouldn't let your experience of a single bad AR7200BX cloud your judgement of the Balde 450X. I have found that it is a good heli and I am sure that once you have your problem sorted you may get to like it too.

It does look like a great heli, I'm just hoping I don't have any more problems before I get to fly it :-)

It would be great to see yours in action, do you wanna get together again one afternoon, once I've got mine up and running, for a bit of flying?

PM me if you're up for it. I'd love some flying tips and to be able to compare what I'm doing with another pilot.

I was also watching those videos earlier this week and thought the same as you.. But the video is for a 450 3D not the X. Which has a slightly different build on the head and the spindle is a cm longer on the X.
