Anyone finding that the servo's are crap?

I have had a couple of really light stacks on mine in which the blades never went and apart from a few linkage arms nothing apart from 3 servo's?

Then on an even lighter one again no blade damage and 2 servos went?

Have i just been unlucky or is this a well known fault?

The stock 450x servos are made of chocolate and are known to fail easily during a crash. You can buy the gearsets for ~£3 but you'd be better off swapping them out for some metal geared servos. I myself would be interested to hear what the recommendations are for 450 size helis as a better cyclic servo

I have 2 and both have had several new servos and gear changes over several crashes. My number 2 I changed to Hitec HS65MG and during 2 crashes have caused no damage to the servos or gears, just linkages.

Alot of people swap out the servos for other alternative ie the Aligns and Hitecs or Savox's.

Maybe this is something to consider?

I like the Turnigy TG306M servos. They seem to perform well. They are quite good at resisting crashes and they are not expensive.

ds 410/415 excelent found hitec lots of play with little use puled them off after 6-8 flights swash felt soggy un responsive

Weak cheap gears do give you something breakable that protects the rest of the servo and linkages. They might save money in the long run. Servo savers would be even better.

Savox 0257/Align DS410 or DS415 are basically the same servo, feel fine to start, but develop a lot of slop pretty quickly. I'd avoid.

Unlike Steve I've had success with HS65MG's but they are analog, so technically aren't as responsive as their digital counterparts. Saying that I've still got a set on my 250 which is rock solid and they have been going for years with no slop.

If you are loaded then buy MKS DS95's, or the slight cheaper DS93's. Both are absolutely superb but will not survive hard crashes.

Alternatively if you are a normal person who wants a servo that performs well and doesn't cost the earth, I'd go for the turnigy TGY-306G. I been running two machines in tandem over the past few months, one with DS95's and one with the 306G's. To be honest the performance difference is so minimal and if anything the 306G's are better as they are more crash resistant.

If it were me, that is what I'd get.

Be aware that due to chinese QC it is worth doing the mod outlined in the video below..
