Right. I get this now. Next question. Where can i find a 13t pinion to fit a 3.1mm shaft

Tom, I see in your calcs you used 11t for the stock pinion. Mine was 10t. Did blade change the stock pinion or is 11t preferred with the original motor?

The 450X stock is 11 tooth ... the 450-3D had a stock 10 tooth pinion. Is yours a 450x or a 450-3D ?

EDIT : Scratch that ... I thought the 450x was 11t, but not so sure now ...

EDIT2 : @RSE! .... Thanks JWhitby - - you're right, which means the 450H should be a 12t pinion, not 13t.

Mine is a 450x, but I did get it second hand so I guess the original owner must have changed the pinion.
Mine felt fast enough to me on 10t, it must be mental on 11t

Thanks for info all. Fitted the new eflite 450 motor today, - just the job, seems great. Tom - 12t pinion seems just fine, little faster headspeed than stock - lovely, only issue was pinion runs very close to belt gear, just put a couple of washers under motor to raise it up seems to do the trick, a better solution maybe is to file a smidgen off bottom of pinion at 45 degree. Meshing is only just passable, have ordered the Lynx motor mount to solve this and give room for 13/14/15t pinions !!!!! Motor blarb mentions that bearings are sealed - still wise to oil them eh.

Yes still stock esc at moment, only put 2 batteries through tonight, esc seemed just warm as before ( I am still a newby so only gentle flying as yet) may put an align esc on in future.

Thanks Tom but I can only find >25amp or 90 amp Talon esc, 90 would be overkill eh.
