Sorry Tom i meant that the blades seem a lot thicker compared to the 3D

You don't need to get better with the 3D the X is far better, far more responsive and funnily enough far easier to fly. ... And W A A A Y Y Y more fun. GO FOR IT ! and once you have flown it, you will only keep your 3D (as much as I loved mine) for spares. the 450X uses many of the same parts. Take it off the 3D and repair the X then you can oredr the part while you are flying !

I'd give it a little more than 50% throttle to be honest. Coupled with expo, you might find it quite sluggish in response at too low a headspeed, which could end up making it more difficult to control. Also, lower throttle = more work for the ESC = more energy released as heat rather than kinetic energy. ie. it's not good for the life of the ESC.

Without doing the maths, I'd imagine that 100% throttle on the 3D ~= 85% throttle on the 450X.

Just take it easy. Hover it at first, and progress slowly as you build confidence in the heli. It really IS noticably easier than the 3D to fly.

change out the cheese made servo's for ds415's forget blades/shafts gears(these needed which ever make of model) this little bird will take one hell of a beating, and still lol at you, if you don't mind the job of regularly changing the eflight servo gears it is probably the cheapest excellent 450 out there highly reliable fbl unit no upgrades other than servo's buy, program, and enjoy.

I am still flying tail in. But manage loops, bunts and rolls etc as well as spins. When I crash, it is the plastic gears which cave in first and save me a lot of money. So the hop ups are still a long way down the line.

I did find a few of the screws a bit lose and so I tightened them with threadlock where appropriate (not on screws into plastic) but apart from that it flew straight out of the box after tx setup.
