It is a binary number with 'A' being the least significant bit. So if both 'A' and 'B' are lit then it has firmware version 3.
if it has only 'B' lit then it is version 2. If it has only 'A' lit then it has version 1 etc.

I think the units shipped with the 450x and 300x have a slightly different factory firmware version that has the "factory default" settings changed to be right for those helis. Otherwise, they are v3 I believe.

I brought a brand new 450x which had a faulty AR7200BX and the one horizon sent me as a replacement had completely different default settings. Is there any way I can change the firmware on my replacement so it's the same as the one that was shipped with the bird? I've had the thing for 3 months now but I've never been able to fly it as I've got no idea how to set it up safely.

There's no need to change the firmware - you just need to set it up! Takes about 20 mins ... 30 minutes the first time you do it when following the manual!

Or do a youtube search for "ar7200bx setup" - there's lots on there that will walk you through it!

Thanks tomatwalden. Yeah, I know it seems simple once you've done it before and I've spent a bit more than 30 mins trying to understand it but I've got no idea what I'm doing when it come to this and it's why I picked a bnf.

So there's no way to put the AR7200BX back to factory default for the 450x then? :-( I've tried following the manual but once it starts asking me to use stuff I haven't got (such as a pitch gauge etc) I get a bit stuck and to be honest I don't fully understand what it's talking about to the point that I'm not sure if I wanna risk having this come at my face full speed because I haven't fully understood something. I was hoping I could just switch it back to how the one that came with the 450x was set up. So much for bnf I guess.

I've posted a plea for help in the regional section of the forum as I don't think I can do this safely myself if I can't just re-set it. I hope that I can find someone local who is willing to help as this is looking like my last resort.

Thanks for the advise tomatwalden, it's all appreciated.

Ok, let me know if you get any response. If not, and you don't mind driving a bit, if you could bring yourself up to Bath/Wiltshire way one weekend, you could spend a day flying with us at our local club. It would give you a chance to see others flying and we could have your heli fixed up in no time.

I imagine though that some of the Devon or Cornwall guys could help though!

By the way, just looked at the light pattern on your unit. It does look like a 450x variant I believe rather than a stock/general unit.

However, that stil doesn't mean you can just plug it in without any setup. Orientations should be right, but you would still need to do rudder travel, pitch settings etc.
