  • After the B4503D?

Hi all, ok.. here's the thing, got some unexpected pennies on the way, so while i've got a a spare few quid, though i'd maybe have a look at a heli to get after the Blade 4503d.

It's not going to be flown as such as im still trying new things with the blade, but thought i'd get something while i can..

    Question is... what ?

Looked at the B450X, but not sure...

He already has a Blade 450 3D. He's asking what he should upgrade to, so another 450 3D is hardly the answer... is it! Also, unless I'm greatly mistaken, you can buy a brand new Blade 450 3D for the same price you're selling your S/H one for...?

If you want to upgrade from a 450 3D, a cheap Chinese T-Rex 450 pro would be a massive jump and for much less than you paid for your Blade, or you could pay a bit more and get an original...

If you want to step up a size, then you won't go far wrong with a Trex 500, they are a bit more stable than the 450 size models and handle the wind better. You can pick up a flybarred 500 pretty cheap at the moment and you could always upgrade to FBL later on.
I don't think a cheap Chinese clone is a step forward, I have one but its now mostly Align, it would probably have been cheaper to buy a genuine Trex in the long run! Just my opinion.

I'd go for a Trex 450 pro Garth

Great little heli, cheap on spares plus there's a load of us with them at the club if you need advice or parts.

In my opinion, any Chinese T-Rex 450 clone is better than a blade 450 3D... but that's just my opinion.

I have never flown or owned a blade helicopter, so not good then?

                After the B4503D?

                He's thinking of a 450x, not another 450-3D!

Anyway, Garth. The 450x, or for that matter, any flybarless model will feel a lot more locked in than the flybarred 450-3D. It'll be different, but not by a huge amount. Personally, I bought a 450x after a 450-3D and then practically stopped flying the 3D.

However, as has already been said, you may want to consider going up a size depending on where you are with your progression. Depending on your budget and needs, there's a number of good options in the 500 class size. There's the 500x if you want a BNF model, but honestly I would recommend you get a kit at this size. Building a heli really isn't that hard and the super combo kits take all the guesswork out of choosing the components.

Nothing wrong with the 450-3D and 450x. Both very good helis, and the 450x really has insane amounts of power for its size. The cost of a 450 sized blade versus a trex is about the same. This coupled with the fact that the trex uses carbon frames, metal parts etc leads some to observe that you bet more for your money with the trex

However the 450x comes with a beastx unit rather than a 3gx which is generally considered to be better, and it comes pre built. Depends what you want. Most beginners want to go flying, not learn about building and setting up a heli. Hence why the blades are popular.

Both fly well. Horses for courses.

Garthy, where to go next not only depends on how much you have to spend, but also how much you will be able to fork out in repair bills......

A 550 would be lovely, they are nice and stable compared with a 450 (there is a massive jump in blade size), but the repair bills are a lot more...

I know its difficult to do, but I would hang on to the money, and get proficient with the 4503d for now........ if you have to spend the money then like others have said, a align 450 pro flybarless, but then you are looking at big money just for the flybarless controller.....

If you would like to stick with the size you have but want to try a FBL go for the 450X you pretty much can't go wrong with it, and it will teach you alot!

However as some have said the 500 T-Rex is a very nice heli, stable and not to big to cause a confidence issue or look intimidating

The other option is a cheap 600N which I've seen to for peanuts!

You'll be more then capable of flying any of these and I guess buying a model that isn't pre built might help ya with the building/ maitence side a bit more

btw clone 450's are no where near the blade 450's in my opinion

                            cheers

for me a seconded hand 500 fly barded with battery's for about £250 ish new v bar £170 dfc head £50 quid < I think that's my next heli m8 you got a 450 so if you want something new go a little bigger repair costs for a 500 size heli are not much more than 450 and the trex 500 sell all the time so you can get your cash back if you don't like it add to that 30 to 50 quid for sale of trex 500 fly bared head and as you say its your next step so you can buy the parts in stages if budget requires
