  • Rebuilding stock servos...?

    Hi,
Does anyone have any pointers on rebuilding stock servos?
Any info on what and where to order the commonly stripped gears would be much appreciated!
    All the best

I used to make two piles of gears, left and right. Then they go back in order. This came up about four years ago. The Hitec HS65HBs are much better. Also a smaller heli will allow you to crash and usually continue. The msr-x is very similar to the Blade 400 for hovering stability and costs £50.00 BNF from KingsLynne.

      Cheers for that.
I have an msrx and an mcpx. Neither I'd guess would fly outside as well as the 400? I kinda was after a quick fix just to be able to fly something different! (And larger)
So are we saying its an old dated heli not worth the bother?
May be worth splitting it for parts perhaps?

There's a 450 going for about £130 at KingsLynne. The 130-X is quite good in wind and survives well. I've been flying 450s for a long time and I'm not sure they are worth the bother. They don't survive any sort of crash and aren't that much better than a 130-X in terms of what they can do. Perhaps they are ok if you fly within yourself and don't crash. The gyro on the Blade400 is not good, the servos strip easily, and the body is plastic. The tail boom wears a big hole in the body when it hits the ground. The 450 is much better. Clones are good, but servos in a 450 take a lot of abuse. I'm impressed by flybarless though. The Tarot flybarless controller seems quite good:-

I'm quite pleased with my 450x so far, only had about 15 flights on it but it's been faultless so far, did have a tip over in the long grass the other day, done a set of servo gears, but at £2 a set i can live with replacing them, other spares are just as cheap as the 130x really, i might even loose the 130 and get another 450, much better presence in the air and capable of handling more wind

It does cost a bit more. I think the bigger you can afford the better. You can always fly the biggest and best more carefully than the cheapest and smallest. 130-x is good indoors and the msr-x even better in the house. Servos that strip in a crash are better than servos that die. Weak links can be useful to prevent more expensive damage.
