Got a few things I would like to change on my 400 and would just like some opinions to see if these parts are suitable.

Gyro - Spartan Quark DS650 servo Combo

Cyclic servos Savox 0257MG Servo x3

Will the stock ESC handle the amp draw from the above?

    Any help much appreciated

I wouldnt change anything just yet. Its not worth the outlay at the moment.

The quark is an excellent gyro, and my preferred one, and cheap second hand these days (£30 or thereabouts) as everyone is going FBL.

You might be hovering for another week and then be into forward flight, but it might be another 6 months before you are ready for that, and only time will tell. The sim is great but real life is very different, especially on a flybarred machine.

you will probably find that once you have the hovering sorted, you will want to go a bit bigger than the 400 (a 500 to 600 size machine) and it would be better to put the money towards that.

We can help you to get your 400 flying properly, and it shouldnt involve spending money on upgrades.

I would say upgrade the servos and gyro. tail and gyro are the most important on the blade. I flew mine stock for a long time before upgrading and i now know the gyro held me back and i would have progressed far quicker had i upgraded sooner. cant comment on your exact choice of upgrade kit as i have no experience on them (i did the gp750/hitec 5084 and hs65hb's on the cyclic)
£30 for a second hand gyro is peanuts, so do it. the other servos can stay with you when you sell the blade if you wish, or sell them on seperately. you wont be too out of pocket. the difference is night and day with a better tail set up. I still have my blade after nearly 3 years. its been great and well worth upgrading. cheap to crash and learn on. forget bling, but do the tail for sure. I dont think you will regret it. yes its not as good as a trex450, but so what. its still not a bad heli at all.

      trex 550 (HC3SX)

      trex 600 nitro le (beastx)
      compass 6HV (Spirit)

its not my dog by the way.

Totally agree. Only change the servos if/when you break them. Even then, I wouldn't fork out for Savox servos, I'd probably go with Hitec's, or just standard eFlite ones again. When you get your Goblin/TDR/Align/whatever expensive heli - then invest in top quality servos.

The gyro maybe. One of the reasons for the popularity of the 450-3D over the 400 was, I believe a better gyro. But again, I'd only replace it if you really felt it was limiting your progress.

Thanks for the replies, I see what your saying with saving the money for something bigger but I will be with the 400 for a while before I move up to a 600. Can't really bring one of them home when the GF has just got me the 400. I am shifting a load of my unused R/c gear atm, would rather put the money into the 400. I would only spend it on my cars/trucks otherwise

LoL how things change I used to get my arse kicked for giving this very advice! A better tail servo is all you need to make it into a perfect learner machine (hs5084)

In which case, do yourself a favour and buy a second heli - smaller to keep the GF happy. Having a backup for when the 400 is grounded for whatever reason is always helpful. Also, it helps the confidence levels when you fly the 400 as you don't have that "This is my only heli" feeling that keep you on edge.

A 130X or mcpx would both help your learning IMO....

The nano is quite difficult I'd say for a beginner. It's very squirrelly and not easy to fly inside unless you're really good or you have a large space. I suspect you'll get more from it outside, in which case, you're better off with. 130x

My vote would be for the 130x. You won't regret it.

Buy a bunch of spares for the Blade 400 would be my advice.

A better gyro/tail servo combo will definitely help a bit further down the road but not a necessity at the moment. Saying that, if the money is burning a hole in your pocket then go for it

for orientation and quick flying indoors try a msrx its fixed pitch so no inverted there really stable and very crash resistant (really instant fun but after a mouth are to will not use it much ) but no big areas needed i ust to fly mine up and down the stairs chasing the dog around the house
