  • At last - Blade 400 3D on its way

    Greetings all

First post, on what looks to be the best heli forum on the web.

After an eternity of waiting, I got an e-mail from my chosen model shop to let me know that my Blade 400 3D is on its way. Will take a few days to get here with the Christmas post, but has anyone got theirs yet? Any tips?

It's a move up for me from a Falcon 3D, and I'm hoping the 2.4ghz and computer radio will make things much smoother, and all being well might then retrofit an AR6000 or similar receiver onto the Falcon.

Will let you know how it handles!

    Andy

my local model shop had em in the other day, they look excellent value for money.
the quality looks better than your average all in one heli and of course the DX6 is a real bonus.

        good luck with them guys
        All the best

Ditto with the above they sure did!

But YAY congrats mate, I'm dead jealous you've got your before I have mine.

So she's good straight out the box? please for my sanity do post some images of her close up and different angles.

It'll keep me a little sane until I get mine, but please keep us informed as to your progress and findings, I for one will be very interested in what you say.

Safe and crash free flying mate, plus I hate you.......Lucky bugger.

Flew mine for a couple of minutes in the car park before work this morning.
Got it trimmed out and monkey`d with the gyro gain, then cars started coming in so had to land.

First impressions are that it is going to be a great machine.

              Fantastic quality for £259.99

Will try to get out tomorrow for a few flights and report back.

Nice pictures. I think the Blade 400 should be a cracking heli for beginners.

Have you checked the heli over yet. Only reason I ask is on helifreak one of the more experienced members has found the pitch setup was all wrong. In addition the tail setup was binding, and the gyro was not in heading hold mode as it came from the box. For the sake of an hour of setup it will fly much better.

this really is a sweet little heli.
it does fly right out of the box.
it is a little twitchy but very managable even in my living room last night.
ive been round with a screw driver this morning and nothing is loose.
had a flight outside this morning, just gentle hovering left right etc. the tail drifts slightly, but click into idle up and wham it really hums, and the tail locks in nice.(so maybe a speed issue rather than gyro adjustment)
8 mins hovering on a new battery cant be bad.
the dx6 has a nice "chunky" feel to it, and looks like it could take a knock or two...its running on 4 aa batteries supplied with it so i dont know how long they will last, but ill replace them with rechargables as there is a socket on the tx.

                      downside
i dont like the canopy, its a nice shape but has a naff pale yellow colour and is very thin pteg, with an ugly seam staight down the middle..( just looked at the price tag on the box and giggled me ****ing head off)

i think the minipred is dead !

thanks for the advice seize ..yes ive gone over it this morning. mine was sweet straight out of the box but i have found i need quite alot of forward trim, but im loathe to start tinkering just yet!!

Thanks for the photo's mate, that's the first time I've been able to have a good look at one.

Can I ask the owners who have one now, I guess you have already flown a real heli before, so powering her up and having a hover was easy for you to Begin with once the batt was charged.

Does it look straight forward to replace parts on? on that score I'm sure new canopy designs will follow shortly, but I quite like how she looks now.

So far it sounds like a winner.

believe me im no stranger to doing repairs!!!!
but yes this looks nice and simple all the linkages have ball joints non of those silly dog leg wire efforts.
for the money this has got to be a winner!
i believe you can already get a plain white canopy to paint yourself which will be my first purchace
