Definitely not your gain settings? Maybe a bad bearing somewhere?

gain settings are all ok all the bearings have been changed after the crash as the heli was second hand so whilst it was in bits i thought i would replace allsorts lol...the tail wag only rears its head when i take it outside so im putting it down to the gyro being too cold i am taking it to a flying club on monday night to have it checked

Hi Dave , is it the stock gyro ? as my twister 3d used to be like that with the HL400 gyro when i took it from a nice warm car to the cold outside. i now use the new blade 450 gyro and i now have no problems.

I had a Twister Storm and the gyro was unpredictable in the cold. If you are just learning to hover you might find that rate mode is more predictable. Also allow the gyro to settle for 10mins or so after a change of temperature. This was the standard thing to do a few years ago. You may also have damaged the gyro. There are a few useful upgrades for the Twister and the Gyro is probably number 1. Have a look at the £6 TowerPro mg servos, next time you change the servo gears.

Newer gyros have Mems or SMM technology which integrates the sensor with the temperature compensation circuitry. This used to be expensive but the Blade450 is the first cheaper one from a known manufacturer. There are much cheaper Mems gyros available, but I don't know how reliable they are. Gyro design has to allow for the variation in the sensor performance, so it is a good idea to buy one that you can take back to the shop if you get one that doesn't work.

Prices change all the time though, so trying out a HobbyKing cheap Mems gyro would be useful for the rest of us.

My blade 400 after a few crunches developed a bad tail wag. Changed the gyro settings for a few packs (went from no hold to wag and nothing in the middle), let it get to temperature and changing tail blade holder bearings, etc. Nothing really helped much... so got a mems gyro (quark) from the for sale section here and have never had a problem since.

Have you checked the belt isnt too tight as this can cuase bad vibs in the tail? Also when rotating the head by hand does the tail rotate smoothly?

Umm thats definatly not goning to help the tail out haha,
But its a very hard thing to suggest what the problem is when you cant see it in action, its prob best to see waht you club members say!!
