Finnished my 3rd complete rebuild of my twister 3d storm last night in which i stripped every thing back to a bare frame and cleaned / cheaked and regreased and reoiled every bearing etc etc . I visually checked all the electronics and even repositioned the esc and ferrite clamp further away from the RX . I also stipped the motor down and checked the shaft and bearings which run smooth and free , i then reoiled . I fully checked every part of the drive system and tail gearbox and every bearing runs free and the tail slidder shaft is straight . I have just been flying and the flight with lipo 1 was fine but near to the end of lipo 2 the heli heli made the belt slipping sound and the tail kicked round and i was soooooooo lucky this time , so as its only a matter of time i crash due this problem i am officially grounded (gutted).

How long are you flying for and what voltage have you set on the lipo alarm? How long do you allow everything to cool down between flights? You need to find out what the noise is. It could be the motor getting too hot and binding. Is it the original motor? Things expand when they get hot and can seize up. What happens if you cut your flight time in half and wait ten minutes inbetween flights? Does the noise happen if you run the heli without main blades? One other problem I had with the Twister was that the tail shaft bearings fell out of the plastic housing. I expect you checked that though by complete rebuilding.

my flight times are around 5 mins max and the lipo alarm is set at factory default , but its been ok previous to this problem. i usually let the heli cool down for 5 mins between lipo.s and strangley enough since the last rebuild the heli no longer makes the whining sound .oh and yes i fully inspected every single inch when putting her back together and the heli is in pretty good condition appart from the mysterious problem. (just waiting for jeremy beadle to pop up now and say gotch ya), damn this problem is getting on my t1ts now.

I set my alarm at 3.6V. If you go much lower there won't be a lot left and you won't gain much either. You can get longer times by warming up the lipos to about 30 degrees. Keep an eye on all the plastic parts that hold bearings and think about replacing the tail rotor shaft housing. It might have been the bearing getting hot that caused my problem. Taking it apart and putting it back together does often fix things I'm afraid. If it happens again you could land and try to get the noise on the ground. You can then either locate it, possibly with main blades removed or keep going until it stops. Perhaps it was just a dry bearing?

how do you alter the settings ?, mine is the Doohan 3cell voltage alarm and cant see any way of doing thing . also im going to try your suggestion although i may not be so lucky on next flight . i dont mind crashing if its pilot error but knowing i may crash any minute due to no fault of my own is so damn annoying .if i take to my lhs is there any tests that can be done to locate this problem with specialist equiptment ?or is it a case of keep replacing parts untill it goes away lol.

            If it's this one

BPH - Doohan Three Cell Lipo Voltage Alarm

The blue light will flash at 3.7V. It doesn't seem adjustable. Mine is adjustable in steps of 0.1V. It's the same as the Giant Cod one or you can get it from epatchpark on ebay.

I bought three but had to sell one to someone who did not have internet.

The best I can suggest for testing is to check it on the ground. Reliability is a problem with helis, especially with the first one. As you get better more of your crashes will be down to things wearing out. Parts tend to cost about twice as much as a kit. There is just so much to go wrong and most faults do more damage than their own value. I couldn't fix my Twister and moved on to a Giant Cod trex 450 clone. Most of that has been replaced with a mix of better parts as the Giant Cod stuff has failed. Trex 450 heads are available second hand. Wings Wheels and rotors parts are half the price of Trex and the metal upgrades for the Twister and Blade 400 are good quality. I'm currently using the Blade 400 CNC tail rotor assembly.

They are doing a very good price on the 450 Flasher at the moment.
