    Hello everyone,

I received my blade 400 for Christmas last year and I'm having a great time flying it. I have one problem though. When I give it some throttle the tail will drift left/right (can't remember which). The same goes for when I reduce the throttle to descend, the tail will drift the other way. And if I suddenly give it a large blast of throttle the tail will rotate almost 90 degrees round. Now because I'm new to helicopters I really would like to hear from you guys how, or even if, you can fix it. Is there any gyro settings I can change on my DX6i? I'm sure its just something simple and can be fixed with no problem at all but it is starting to annoy me having to correct the rudder all the time. Any suggestions would be great.

    thanks, David.

could be the gyro gain. if you no how to get the gain up on the dx6i what is it set at? should be around 70 i think!! defenently needs to be over 50 anyway.

      Thanks horsham rc

I'm not sure which one is the gain but on the gyro screen there is:

      RATE SW-GYRO
      0:<50.0%
      1: 50.0%

It will be your gyro. I am not familiar with the blade does it come with a heading hold gyro or rate only gyro ?
        Cheers

Set it 60% on both and test it

              Thanks guys,

Yes, I'm pretty sure it is a heading hold gyro. I've set it to 60% and now waiting for the rain to stop and the wind to calm so I can test it.

Just keep gradualy upping the gyro gain until your happy, if you go too far it'll oscillate back and forth fairly rapidly (nothing major) once it starts to do that back the gain off a touch. Et, voila!

You don't want to do both, as that will stay in heading hold no matter where the switch position is, just change the one with 0 next to it, as spanner says, keep upping the gain until the tail starts to wag, then drop it until it stops wagging

thats the right menu , adjust the 0:<50% to around 60 as stated and udjust up in .2 till you get a good hold.
what was it set at??? as we do not no yet do we?

oh see it was 50 yes... ok then continue with insructions here you will sort it.

Thankyou for all the good information guys. If I get some good weather I will try fine tuning the gyro settings.

I stupidly told you the wrong info though. I've been flying the sim. today so i've been on model 10 on my DX6i. When i told you my gyro was set at 50% that was taken from model 10 not from model 1 which is my blade 400. My blade 400 settings were actually around 67%. In spite of this I have raised the setting on the one that has 0 next to it to about 70%.

I have not used a forum before but this has turned out to be very useful.

                      Thankyou again, David

the blade gyro is a fussy bugger at the best of times. before flying place the heli on your take off spot and plug the battery in,dont move the heli before flight.

your gain is still way too low at 67% try around 72%.(dont go as low as 60% you'll be in a world of pain!!)

here are some more settings if you want a fiddle

set both rates the same as if you happen to mistakinly take off in rate mode (the switch knocked) then you won't get caught out
                            its full of meaty goodness
