  • Swash Mixing

I'm new to this rc helicopter thing and have I think figured out rate and expo. Well I believe expo is just a movement curve, INH is inhibited and would produce a linear curve/movement. What I was wondering is what does Swash Mixing do and Travel Adj. I can see from the menu that with the swash mix it's a percentage of aileron, elevators and pitch but just wondered how the comes into play (eg. how does it affect the helicopter).

Always worth tanking a peak on here if you have any questions. Not sure they have anything on swash mix tho:

Subtrim lets you alter the centre position of individual servos so that the arms are in he correct place (usually at 90degrees to the body of the servo)

Travel ajust lets to set the travel limit of individual servos.
If your CCPM servos dont all move exactly the same ammount then it wont work correctly, so you use this option to make sure they all move the exact same distance.

Swash mix sets the total movement of the swash for different control inputs.
If you want a greater pitch range then increase the pitch value.
If you want more elevator then increase the elevator.

A swash leveling tool and pitch guage will help take the guess work out of finding the right settings

So a swash levelling tool is a must then, at the moment I have a Century pitch guage but it's a bit big for my B400. Dunno whether to take the plunge and get a smaller one along with a blade balancer.

You dont have to use a leveling tool, you can do it visually.
A tool just makes it easyer.

A pitch guage is pretty essential.

I wouldn't say a swash levelling tool is a must. Many do it by eye. I use an allen key held onto the main shaft with a rubber band or two. It works just as well.

swash levelling can also be accomplished by attaching a zip tie to main shaft and cutting off excess so ends just reach the servo connectors. Then simply turn main shaft and the zip tie end should just brush the top of the connectors.Once level just snip off zip tie and your good to go.Just google zip tie swash level,to see pictures for clarification.
