  • Fitting HSG-5084MG into Blade 400 tail

I am trying to install a new Hitec HSG5084MG into my Blade 400 (tail) as a newby been scratiching head quite a lot tonight.
I am sure it is easy but not for me !
This new servo is total different size to the old standard e-flite but I do know other have fitted them.
Can anyone advise, do I need special brackets to adapt, what arm do I use, should I be able to fit with what comes in the box, are there any settings or positiions of parts I need to be aware of.
I have alos bought an upgraded Giro.

Any help would be appreciated, would like to crack this job myself.

By the way, this forum is fantastic for a newby, just sooooooo much info !!
    Cheers Nick

hi mate, it fits exactly the same, same holes, i used washers to fit as the servo holes are slightly bigger, ase for horns find one that gives you a 90 degree angle on the servo, oh yeah i dremmelled a small section so the horn can move freely, or you could mount it on the boom with t rex 450 brackets but then your gonna need a new push rod tgry the first way first mate as ive had no trouble with it

      Tail Servo

I bought one of those recently, just clipped the end off the horn and it fit fine. just a straight swap for me.

I had to change the direction switch on the gyro though, so watch out for that.

All fitted now, quick trip to local RC meet and I realised where I was going wrong.

        Thanks for advice

Option 2, get another tail servo mount for the boom and mount the servo on the boom itself, makes it real easy to adjust you just move the entire servo forward or back, also gives more of a range to adjust the CG when you need to. The stock plastic mounts for the boom will spread out enough to get it on with out removing the boom as need to be done if you are using the rex boom mounts.

Thanks for all advice. In the end I fitted servo onto the boom, used ali mounts so had to remove boom but not a major task and like advised gives much more adjustment.
