  • Blade 400 mods

Hi i thought i would just share with you some of the modifications i have done to my Blade 400.

Here i have put on the T-Rex 450 canopy as i found the original one to be too flimsy.I also used the Mini Titan aluminium canopy stand-offs which just screw straight into the original hole on the main frame. This makes it alot easier to remove or put the canopy back on.

Okay so here is a close up pic of the Mini Titan canopy stand-offs in aluminium. They just srewed in to the existing holes in the main frame where the carbon rod used to go through that held on the stock canopy.

I like the canopy, you need to get the Trex 500 canopy mounts and mount them next to the servo, you can then use the orginal Trax holes.

Also the Trez 450 skids look much better and cost about £5.

only problem i have with using the t-rex 500 mounts is that you have to put them on the anti-rotation mounts which on a heavy landing it might break the frame as there is not much holding it there.

This is the new gyro and the Futaba S3153 tail servo installed.
Its like a different heli now with these mods and flys ace! the tail is solid and its a must upgrade as i found with the stock gyro and tail servo that its just not good enough, and for a beginner your always fighting the tail. But now its easier to fly!

The problem I found with the Mini Titan canopy mounts was that they tip up if you screw them in the standard holes. I got round this by overtightening one and stripping the plastic in the frame so I then had to fiddle around and put the hexagonal spacer inside the frame so I had something to screw to. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the mounts now sit nice and level and they are now very rigid.
I actually managed my first two flights yesterday, without crashing, after my last crash saw me fit the Hitec HS65MG servo's. It's now got the S3153MG on the tail, the Hitec's on the cyclics and a CSM 560 Micro gyro, it's now much more stable.
I'm going to fit a plain yellow T Rex canopy that I can put the E Flite decals on as I didn't really want a canopy with Align on it, although I've also fitted the T Rex 450 landing gear.

Alright Gramey,It sounds like your heli is coming on nicely too mate.I know what you mean about the canopy,it would be better to have something plain. That yellow one you are talking about sounds good for visibility aswell.
                      Cheers Grant

Grant, no offence re having Align on your canopy I just thought I'd try and keeping it nearer to the original, I trawled through the available Align canopies and saw they did a plain yellow one so I ordered that. I was tempted to get the red lightning one to match my T Rex 600 but decided against it as the fin and tail are still yellow on the Blade.

Help yourself, I was going to go for the plain yellow and put the Blade decals on it.
