Potgieter, I know your family name well. Pronounced Pot-chee-ter, (that's my best attemp at phonetics). I have a South African colleague with the same family name. He claims that Scots can pronounce it better than any other Nationality due to the similarities in the local dialect.

German eh? Any chance that your ancestors originated in Namibia? Being a German colony neighbouring South Africa it seems logical enough.

As for the Genealogy, I spent a bit of time researching my ancestry and have drawn up my family tree on www.genesreunited.com - I've got around 350 entries going back as far as my GGGGG Grandfather - 1700s.

No RC Helis in his day.

I wish I could fly way, up to the sky, but I can't.

I've not worked in Nigeria, but would have no problems in doing so. It gets a bad press these days regarding kidnapping, but there has only been one hostage fatality, and he was accidentally killed during a botched rescue operation.

I personally know one of these guys from this hostage incident, and he assures me that the kidnappers made it clear from day one that no harm would come to them. They were well looked after, given anything they desired, including whisky, beer and believe it or not, but I swear this is the truth, local women!

I'm based way up North in Lossiemouth. Ironically, home to RAF Sea-King (AKA Sikorsky S-61) Search & Rescue Squadron 202.

I may have to make a trip to Glasgow this time home though.

Welcome to the forums mate, you'll love the 400, as long as you follow the basic fundamental rule, before you fly, get help. Once I did that I was away, I love her to bits. And a lot on here can tell you how much pain I went through when I started out with her. And 99% of it was my fault, not hers, all that was hers was a dodgy Servo that died on me, before she ever flew.

Lovely heli anyway, so good luck with her, and make sure you have hours on the sim and some good training gear.

welcome also, from another newbie - still practicing on Phoenix - despite being welcomed to the dark side when I powered her up the garden & heard the sounds she makes!!

Patience & Plenty of sim time is the key I am told & sticking too, no matter how much I am eager for the 1st hover/flight 'in the real world'!! So i'm in there with you!!

                          Hi everybody,

I am also new on this forum.
I am the happy owner a 400 since few days.
I didn't fly with it and do prefer to work on Phoenix sim.
I hope the real 400 is more stable than the one in Phoenix. I can't make a hover with it. It's going far away so quickly .... May be it's due to the setting but I still practice...

I have a bi-rotor and am very confortable with it. Time to put the 400 out of the box and to try it.

                          Regards.

                          JP

Hi JP and welcome to the forum

My advice would be to practice on Phoenix until you can hover - the real thing is different and if anything, more difficult as you have the fear of crashing it...

Anyhow, best of luck whatever you decide.

                              Hi

Try this setting it helped a lot with 400 when I first started flying, settings are for normal mode, don't go idle up with these settings as it could make you jump!
