  • Futaba GY401 or CSM SL560 micro?

I've got a slight dilemma, I bid on a CSM SL 560 micro gyro on ebay but before the auction ended Machasm put up two GY401's for sale. Not knowing if I'd win the CSM I snapped up one of the 401's. I don't like cancelling bids on ebay as I wouldn't like it if it were me, so I let the bid stand and blow me if it didn't win.
The problem I have now is do I use the new unused CSM on my Blade 400 or go with the GY401. Being fairly new to this I just wanted something better than the stock Blade gyro but which is the better of the two?

401 is more user-friendly, softer and easier to setup than the 560.

560 has more adjustable parameters (especially in the PC interface) and is probably a little bit better at the tail management.

One big difference between them is that the CSM will instantly let you know if there's something wrong with the heli such as a bearing failing somewhere - it will twitch and glitch, and you'll think there's something wrong with the gyro or the tail servo, but there won't be anything wrong with them, it's a useful warning sign to go look elsewhere on the heli or something starting to go wrong. The 401 is a lot less sensitive to things like this.

It's up to you which scenario you'd prefer really. Both are competent gyros, even if the 560 is now obsolete (I think).

Should you choose to sell the 401, can I have first refusal please?

The mini 560 is still made (same case as the 720), just the big grey version is phased out.

Try them both. I reckon the 401 might work best on the small electric. If you are contemplating a bigger heli in the future the 560 would work well on that.

I let you know, I should receive them both in the next couple of day's and I'll make a decision as I don't need both.

That's usually where I go wrong, give me something to tinker with and I'll screw it up, too many choices!!!

I went with the CSM on my Blade and used the 401 on a Raptor, I adjusted the CSM via their software and the cable that came with it to suit a 450 size heli and it's fine.
