  • OK, I admit it, I'm going to need some Help.

So I have been having some fun over the last couple of days fitting some new parts, and setting up my tail. I finally thought I had it sorted, having over come the little problems that were holding me up.
only to find that when I finally get it all back together that the tail still drifts counter clock wise and it seems to have developed a really and I mean REALLY bad vibration, enough to undo a load of screws that I really should have loctighted in.

To say I was a little upset would be putting it mildly, what really gets me is I have not even dumped it into the ground yet and there appears to be no reason that I can see for the Vibration.

What I would like to do is spend some time with some one that can show me how to fix the current problems and help in setting up my blade to a point were I know how to fix what goes wrong.

I get that this is a big ask, and that most people would suggest I seek out my local club and go from there, and I would but I just don't think I would learn anywhere near as much as I could on a one to one basis.

I have considered taking it to my LHS, but again I doubt that I would actually learn anything and I would become reliant on then fixing it for me every time something goes wrong, and this again is not what I want.

so hears the deal, I have no problem traveling to someone if they can offer to help, but I am restricted to Sundays (unfortunately I work 6 days a week) and as such could do with keeping it within an hour of where I live (B49 6JZ)
I would be more than willing to pay for your time or a meal or drinks if you like, for the help.

at a look I would guess this could be quite a time consuming prospect and would totally understand if this is not a viable option for anyone, should this be the cast I would then have to start looking into LHS and what they can offer to me.

If there is anyone out there that could help please get in contact

    Best Regards

    Andy

PS I have an open house if someone would like to come down and show me if this suits anyone better.

    Hi Andy

Sorry you're having so many problems with youir Blade. I would willingly give you a hand but I don't know anywhere near enough to help!

If you're happy to pay someone, Pete Milner of Phoenix Model Aviation is worth a call. He does heli building/repairing and flight instruction as his full time job and is based down our way (Trowbridge) which is about 1.5 hours from Stratford, and has a flying field south of Bristol. He sorted my Blade's tail out and I also have flying lessons with him. Website (being revamped!) is http://www.phoenixmodelaviation.co.uk

Alternatively, I'm sure there's a few other forum members that would be happy to help.

    All the best

      This could be an option.

Hey mate, sorry to hear your having so many problems..
If you were not so far away, i would pop over and sort it out for you but if you fancy a trip the other way round and can bring the heli over to mine i live in north weald, next to the airfield or come down to my flying field just a little up from Brands Hatch circuit, then I would be more than happy to sort it out and show you all I know about heli setups and repairs etc.

It is about 2 - 21/2 hours drive though so a bit more than the 1 hour you hoped for.. let me know anyway..

I personally don’t think that I am having that many problems, just a total lack of knowledge to set the little fella up.

It’s really starting to hinder me on my path of learning to fly.

I refuse to give up and just dump it in a box and move on.

I so wish you were nearer mate, we'd have you up and running, I spent loads of time on the 400 trying to work out what was amiss before I finally flew mine. But no, don't give up on her. At worst she may need some new bits.

I would like to say thank you to everyone for the overwhelming response I have received, I am highly considering a couple of offers and may even make it into a little trip with an overnight stay in a B&B, this would mean I could travel alot further, I am currently at work so don't have the time to respond but I will contact sum of you tonight to see if this sits well.

                Thanks again

Just on a side note, how many people use a training stand for setting up, having seen some videos on Utube I am thinking this may be a good way of testing out tail setups and such like.

anyone use one and are they good for this sort of use.

I always wished I'd had one to start with, the guy who built that original one, Dave Herbert, is a great bloke and knows his stuff. He should copyright that and sell them.

I use a stand/turn table much like his for setting up the tail/gyro etc.........i stole my missis's heavy duty chopping boards and have velcroed a turn table which has roller bearings onto the board and in turn a couple of velcro pads to the tt to hold down the heli...................its a very good device to have and especially if you have little to no space to work with.

                          Hi mate,

there are a few people who may help if you come to Sutton Park on a Sat or Sun.. or even the indoors in Tipton we spoke about before..

You're right tho, doing it yourself is the way to go. You will learn nothing if someone does it for you and gives it you back...

There is a club in Himbleton where you will get some help, Sundays only weather permitting.. http://www.himbletonhelicopters.co.uk/
