  • Need help with my tail servo (I think)

Not the same as the other post tonight, and could really do with some help.

Have a look at the video and see if you can work it out for me.

All trims are zeroed (or centred if you like) and when left the arm moves all the way to the right, then when I move it all the way to the left and release it slowly drifts back to the right.

When I get a good head speed up the tail whips round until I counter it with a lot of trim or loads of stick.

Any help or setup ideas would be great.

No offence but have you crashed it at all, I had a similar problem with mine and found the tail blade shaft was bent. I'm not sure that the creeping across isn't normal as mine does the same but as I say I did find the shaft was bent.

Other thing I should have mentioned is have you had to adjust the belt tension, if so have you slackened off and reset the position of your tail servo so the horn is centred?

    Just a thought.

not really crashed it, just clipped the floor with a blade, just checked and the shaft looks fine and straight.

What gyro do you have on the heli?
Could the gain be set too high currently?
I know some gyro's do that when the gain is too high...

Also, is the gyro sense reversed?
That would cause the tail to whip round at mental speed when you spool up.

        Cheers,

I have the blade 400 and mine does exactly the same so i had to give it loads of right rudder trim to compensate the nose turning to the left, then re-centred the trim after adjusting the tail push rod.Dont know why this happened or if indeed it will have solved the problem.Could this be a common probleb on the blade 400.I notice that the tail has quite aloy bof slop and the tail pitch can be moved with your fingers without the pushrod or servo even moving.I wander also what this problem could be?

Set your D/R to 45% and see if it centres can you? Let us know if it still does the same.

I'm guessing you mean the d/r+expo setting and adjusting the rudder to 45, if so no it still does the same.

looks like the servo horn needs adjusting ?

can you give us a pic of where the servo horn is at centre ?

still using the standard blade gyro and servo, servo is mounted in the standard place.

sorry I cant give you any more details, I just don't know.

was looking at getting a GY401 and digital servo, this may speed up the process if I cant get it fixed.

and yes it still creeps back to centre if you adjust and turn off and on

It looks like maybe the gyro has had its lot so to speak.....the standard gyro on my T3ds did the same although a quick on and off would sort it but then the creeping would appear again after a while.....have you tried setting centre horn in rates mode then flicking over to HH again to see if its still creeping.

Or this cheaper lesser version of the gy401 like my gy240 which doesn't have a remote lead for adjustment from the Tx but hey who cares as its rock solit compared to what you have now!=£39 or this one at £35

andy i dont have time to answer now i should be on tonight after 7pm ish! i'll go through the set up with you. your first vid was a normal reaction to you moving the rudder stick and the gyro trying to find its new heading. but the heli wasn't moving hence the gyro tried to move the tail more!!
