  • My feathering shaft drawing ..may be of use

Had an hour spare today after re-building the blade .............there is a lot of confusion over the sequence the washers//shims//bearings go together on the feathering shaft so I thought i would put a drawing together with the part numbers .............

NOTE THE THRUSTBEARING SHOWS 4 PARTS BECAUSE THE ADDITIONAL WASHER NOT IN THE MANUAL COMES IN THAT BAG .....

    hope its of use

Dazz, appreciate drawing and time you put into this. The first time I replaced the main and feather shafts I was ready to throw in the towel. Had a hard time following sequence. Thanks again. Dewey

I dont know if its the same on the 400 but on larger models the thrust bearing has a definate inner and outer side one has a smaller diameter hole in it, I dont know if this is an issue on this model but I just though I would mention it for you.
      All the best

Not in my experience, the Thrust bearings just have a racetrack looking side and a flat side with a brass one between them that has small ballbearings round it.

Thrust bearings have center holes that are diferent sizes (all of them due to how the work). The easy way to get them right is the side with the smallest hole always goes towards the screw or nut and the side with the sloppy fit goes inside the blade grip.

Your right Tony .......it does .........If you put the washers on the feathering shaft and move from side to side one is tight and the other is sloppy .............if memory serves me right the tight one faces the blades....... Been a while since I flew the blade

Hi everyone, when i replaced the feathering shaft on my blade 400 i found that using a spare flybar helped as a tool. All i did was wen i unscrewed one of the blade grip screws i then screwed the end of the flybar into the blade grip which is the exact same diameter as the screw thats just been removed. Then all u have to do is push the flybar through so the feathering shaft is now seen coming out the other side of the blade grip. The flybar now acts as a bar in which all the washers and bearings slide across on,this saves taking all them out n getting them all mixed up!Just remember though to put some tape on one end of the flybar so all the washers n bearings dont slide off. Then when the new feathering shaft is screwed to the flybar from the otherside all u need to do now is pull the flybar back through the blade grips and all the bearings and washers follow. If this sounds too confusing please feel free to ask for more details.Cheers Grant.

mine has a flat washer the rides on the inside bearing under the thrust bearing. I never noticed one hole on the thrust bearing being larger than the other. guess I 'll be tearing her apart again tonight. the up side is that I'm getting so good, I could probably build/setup this heli in about an hour..haha I wonder if EFlite is hiring!!ROFL
                  cheers

Easily missed when you first start putting these things together, also remember to put the cage of the thrust bearing to the outside, that way when you pack it with grease it will hold it in place.
