Being a newbie and having had my first bent bits crash, I have found after replacing servo gears that the swash is nowhere near level with the servo arms at 90. I have watched Finless Bobs vids on set-up but this would involve huge alterations from the stock settings particularly swash mix and control rod lengths. Is this a go way to go, starting from scratch or would i be better making smaller alterations around the existing stock set-up.

I'm totally new to this hobby as well. I've bent my Blade 400 a couple of times in what I consider to be quite a stylish fashion.. two good head rebuilds etc. Neither time did the swash need adjusting other than trim adjusting.
If the control arms are the required length (check that you have not pulled the steel shaft almost through the plastic ball joint making it longer than it should be) and the servo arms are at 90 degreesn then I don't know where your problem is, sorry. But I bet someone on here will be able to help..

the 400 i flew wasnt isnt spot on out of the box so it is possible that you will need to do some tweeking to get it setup properly.
when your setting up, are the old servos 90degs when you have the stick in the middle?
might be worth checking your pitch curves for all flight modes are 0, 25, 50, 75, 100

I set the pitch curves to 0, 25, 50, 75, 100, centred the sticks and set the servo arms to 90. but with this the swash is not even close to being level so maybe the control rod lengths have been affected by the crash, I will have to check the plastic threads have not striped. In Finless vid he initially sets the swash mix to 50 all round should i do this or stick with the stock setup of -75,-75,+85.
Thanks for your replies it is the first time I've had to play with setup and trying to get as much info as I can.Blade 400 3D

Apologies if this is a repeat I posted a quick reply but it seems to have disappeared.
I set the pitch curves to 0,25,50,75,100, centred the sticks and set the servo arms at 90 and the swash was far from level, so maybe control rod lengths were affected by crash. I will have to check plastic threads to make sure they have not stripped. forget the swash mix values for now. set those later.
centre the sticks. double check your servo horns are 90degs to the pushrods (note pushrods not anything else).
use a set of vernier calipers, cheap set will do. to get the pushrod lengths of the push pull links the same and any others that should be equal.
if that doesnt get it level. take some full side on pics of both sides and post them here. Its been a while since i had a close look at the 400

Thanks for your replies Ade.
I have now leveled my swash though one control rod needed quite a lot of adjustment (7 turns). I just needed a bit of encouragement to make what I considered a big adjustment on what I assumed to be a correct stock setting. The thread on the plastic control rod ends dosent appear stripped so maybe the rod length was wrong to start with?Blade 400 3D

you need to select model 2 and rebind to it.( im assuming you have copied your settings across as per the e'flite video so as to retain the default on model 1?

i think confusion is setting in cretay
firstly keep them separate, the settings you use for phoenix copy them to model 10 and call it "phoenix"that should save any confusion.
your original settings that you copied to model two are just that a copy for reference name them default.
now alter the settings in model 1( which is already bound to your heli) to how you want them.
if you have already lost your original settings and want to use model 2 or any other for that matter. to rebind is quite straight forward.
plug your bind plug into the spare pins on your rx in the heli.select the model you want to use lower the throttle stick and throttle trim on your tx and switch it off. connect the battery to the heli the rx light should blink rapidly. hold the trainer switch forward on the tx and switch on. after a few seconds the rx light should go solid and the heli will initialise. let go of the trainer switch. disconnect the battery from the heli remove the bind plug.switch off your tx. and your done
