  • 300X power failure during flight

    Hi folks,

I am new to this forum (introductory thread posted HERE).
currently I am running my third Blade 300X - the first one got replaced by HH due to electronic issues, the second got smashed into the ground so hard by myself that I decided to buy number 3 and use the remainders of number 2 as a spare-part donator.

I have been scrolling through the threads here in the 300X subforum but could not find a discussion around the following:

Over here we see more and more 300X develop a strange power outage in mid-flight, which initially shows up as a very brief motor cut out of less than a second after which the heli gets back in control immediately - this basically has been the root cause for the smack down of my second 300X.
As time goes by - this power cut out can become longer and also can cause the RX to go into fail-safe, which can then cause it to crash. Our initial thought was a hick-up on the AR7200BX unit, but the more we discuss this, the more we get the impression that the root cause really is the ESC.

This suspect got confirmed by reports of people exchanging the ESC, which stopped the issue from occuring again.

I wanted to ask if any of you ever had this issue.
Also has anyone changed out the ESC yet ?

    Thanks

@400Blade: I thought about the same thing. I did try a used Turnigy 45Amp ESC from a friend tonight, but could not make it work. that one might be broken. I guess I'll get myself a new one (ESC not heli)

Right this has happend to me. Motor cut invirted and it hit ths deck. Now im not great with electric but I am great soldering. As it cut I saw a thing fall and after about 30 min of searching I found it. A thing from the esc on closer inspection I find a bad solder joint. Not happy with hh fed up with silly stuff going wrong and costing£££. No more blade products for me.....well unless I could build it myself......o look blade 550x kit......... bugger did it again......

The power supply from a BEC built into an esc can be iffy. Everything is designed down to the limit and sometimes beyond. It works when new but gets worse as servos get older and things creak a bit. One cheap and simple way is to use a separate BEC. Many are available under £10. Overlander have been going years and sell them.
