  • Drift to the right.

Wonder if you guys can help me find out why my 300x wants to drift to the right. Bought it of a friend last night, only had a couple of flights on it. Checked pitch and was way out with +14/-6°. Got it set to +/-11°. 0° @ midstick. Set up my Dx8 as per manual apart from 10% expo on aileron and elevator, IU1 90% flat. Done all the normal preflight checks, swash and tail correcting the right way etc..

TH, flick to IU2. Flick TH off, Spooled up nice and slow. Got off the ground ok, hover started to drift right and I kept it steady. Then it drifted right pretty hard and I panicked, hit TH and watch it hit the floor. £15 damage so no biggie but don't want it to happen again. Is there something I need to look at in the ARBx?

    Any help much appreciated
    Danny

when you say drifting to the right, do you mean that the heli moves to the right in the air, or that it rolls to the right so that the rotor disk tilting over?

Bit of both, started moving to the right and eventually it turned into a roll. That's when I hit TH. Knew it was going in, better TH on then off. I have not changed anything apart from adjust the linkages to the blade grips to get 0° midstick and menu K on ARBx to get +/-11° pitch.

have a search on line and look on Helifreak its quite a common fault mine did the same. Solved it with a gell pad for the beastx instead of the foam pad fitted as standard.

Interestingly, Curryzz did the same last weekend, but only in IU2, it seems to be headspeed dependent.

              I suspect its vibe related.

Check that there is nothing that can come in contact with the ar7200bx, and it might be worth trying a different tape as others have suggested.

As Curryzz isnt going to be flying in IU for a while its not much of an issue there, so didnt go chasing it.

It did settle down as the flight went on though.... so perhaps it was something settling in... Curryzz later found that the jesus bolt was just about to snap, so perhaps its worth checking over the head to see if there is something close to failure...

Have been looking and seems that it could be the mounting tape for the ARBx and Align gel tape is the way to go or if anyone knows something similar I could get from FL or local, if FL don't stock it.

If not the tape it could be the lower motor bearing, checked all bolts etc and all good.

Check motor and change mounting tape and go from there Have receipt so can send anything faulty to HH.

                Thanks for the replies lads.

I have some maplins foam tape, which you can try doubling or even trebling up on, which changes the characteristics....

happy for you to have some, it was £8 for the roll or something silly, so a few bits wont cost me anything and have plenty to spare.

You got a link for the Maplins tape James? Sure I have seen it mentioned before? Would be worth me getting a roll if it's good.

hobby store in town normaly supplys gyro tape

but if it was mine id

id rip the arbx out and sell the rest

then you can put the bx on your 550 and get that into the air and when you smacking sticks you can upgrade your beastx to vortex are mini v bar

arbx hold there price and are still in the top 3 flybarless control units for 8 out of 10 peoples list
