  • Looking for advice on my new 300x ( New to Helis)

    Hi,

I am taking delivery of my 300x today

I am currently flying a Nano and building my way up to fly my 450x, I did also have a 130x but it kept braking, servos failing etc.

I am still a beginner and looking for the best way to set up my 300x so I can learn to fly her without ruining it. Is there any mods/checks I should do before flying her?

    Thanks

    Paul

One thing you ought to know is that crash costs are the same as crashing a 450X. The 450X is more stable but also more intimidating. The 300X is a nice step up size but they can be a lot twitchier in a breeze.

I'd be inclined to drop dual rates to 60-70% and add in about 25-30% expo. You really want it docile but not so docile you can't get out of trouble. Having said that you would probably, at this time, lack the experience to get out of trouble and not docile enough could easily lead you into a crash.

Let your normal pitch curve be about 45%-47%-50%-75%-100%. If you set too much negative you canend up slamming her into the ground real hard. Throttle curve on normal - you would want 80% from middle to full. Not sure if the 300X has soft start, don't think so. Throttle curve on normal: 0%-30%-80%-80%-80%. What happens now is that any collective changes you make in flight affect only the pitch and not the throttle. You need to increase speed slowly at first because the first half of that throttle curve is steep as hell. So, a little bit and very gently follow the motor speed as it climbs.

At mid stick you should have motor at 80% and pitch at 0 degrees. Any more forward motion on the collective will start to produce lift. This should make it pretty docile and if you do panic and shut the throttle down too quick you won't slam the heli into the deck with too much negative pitch. You will have enough negative pitch to help you down in a gust of wind though, so don't worry on that score.

I hope that has been of some help.

          Hey John,

Yeah kinda seems that way, I returned the 130x back to the Hobby Shop, not sure if it was bad luck or what but it kept having faulty servos.

I thought I'd give the 300x ago as it has the larger servos etc and seems very simar to the 450x which I'm looking to fly next summer confidentlyfingures crossed

Thanks, Im going to try and get her all set up tomorrow and fly her, somehow it come out the box with the controls the wrong way round so been trying to work out why it was like that and how to change it to the same controls as my other two Blades.

Have you been doing much flying?Hows the cucuits etc coming along?
