help! after changing several parts and servos after a crash, I have put the heli back together again, carried out a beast set up, all servos etc. are moving correctly exept when i move the throttle stick up swash goes up but it moves the blade leading edgedown further into negative pitch! what am I doing wrong?

Have you changed any settings on your tx? Sounds like you've reversed the pitch on the tx if all other movements are correct apart from pitch on the dx6i it should be set to N, dont know what tx your using thats just on mine.

Well if pitch up is supposed to be swash up, then sounds like blade grips / blades on backwards??

Hi A.N.T & dillwhacker, Yes I had the pitch reversed in my dx6i (don't know how I had done it as I dont' remember changing it!) But what I didn't realise is that on the 300x moving the throttlestick forward lowers the swash but increases the pitch (on my MCPX if you raise the throttle stick swash goes up and blade pitch increases) I was thinking it would be the same on my 300x . That's the trouble with being a novice and buying bnf helis, you don't get the learning curve of building them until you crash em! Anyway, I now have the pitch the right way but don't have. 0 pitch at zero throttle and at mid stick. I suppose I might have messed about with the linkages, but again I do not remember it. What would be the best way to gain the correct amount of pitch at mid stick, mechanically or via the beast unit?

        Cheers

        Colin.

When your are in set up mode g in the beast where swash is level, mechanically adjust your 2 top links so you have 0 pitch at the mid stick point an then you will need to go through the next steps again of your plus an minus pitch and collective without binding.

I know what you mean Colin, I'm completely new to heli's too, bought the 300x without much knowledge about collective pitch heli's but am learning new stuff all the time and there is some great advice on setups here, the pitch on my blades were out quite a way when I got the 300x, I noticed it when I had it strapped down and was tracking the blades as had heavy vibrations on any throttle above 20%, adjusted both linkages to the blade grips until both blades were tracking at the same level at 50% throttle and beyond, the vibrations disappeared and it hovers pretty good now.

I ve set the pitch curve on the DX6i in normal mode to 50-50-50-75-100 so I have no negative pitch, so while I'm learning if I hit the collective down instead of throttle hold switch, it wont smash into the ground.

Hi Raving Jim Thanks for that. Not sure how pitch has got so changed as it wasn't a very hard crash and I didn't alter anything. Was hoping when I had put the new servos in I would just have to center them and adjust the frequency, but it appears not! So, just to re cap in menue G with led off, adjust the 2 top (flybarless links) to get 0 pitch at mid stick (with trottle hold on in normal mode, then what menu will I have to adjust? I want to get it bak to the factory settinG As it flew great until i started practising loops!! sorry to ask but not very experienced in heli set ups!
              cheers for now.

If you check in your beast x manual I think next step will be set 6 degrees cyclic then you top am bottom pitch and then amount of cyclic , get all these set rite an it will fly spot on .

Hi ANT, good idea with the pitch curve! i still fly my Multiplex Funcopter and when i go back to the 300x i have had some near misses dropping the collective and sucking into the ground! my 300x was (as far s i am concerned) set up perfectly out of the box, so I was gutted when i crashed it thinking it would never be that good again, as i would have to set it up! so far looks like i would be right!

The beast x will return to default settings ( as it came out of the box) if you perform a reset, just hold setup button for 10 secs to perform this, then you just have to setup the servos and linkages mechanically to get the swash level, pitch neutral at mid stick and blades tracking level.

Did you replace the servo's? I had a heavy landing at the weekend, afterwarsds the servos were really notchy and clunky, took the gears out put them back in making sure they were all seated correctly and they're back to normal, the only issue I have is with the tail servo, Im on my third one and I ve only had it in the air 4 or 5 times they keep seizing up and burning out the motor in them.

Yes, I did relace the servos, stripped the gears as you did, maybe I should have swopped the gears over as you did, Might have been less agro setting up afterwards! I have done a re set, so just need to adjust to 0 pitch at mid stick with the top (flybarless links) and the rest should be back to out of the box? Will have a go at this tomorrrow and let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

Think the gear set in the 76's are pretty weak, you can get replacements for £2 from wheelspin models, they seem to be pretty weak so I've ordered a couple of sets at least its cheaper than replacing the whole servo.

If you haven't adjusted the swash linkages while they've been off and swash is centred and level with the servo's in the neutral position then, pretty much just the 2 blade grip linkages to adjust, I strap mine down to the bench and throttle up to mid stick, you can clearly see if one blade is tracking at a different height with the red and black tape on each blade, instead of adjusting just the one linkage I do both so they're evenly spread on adjustment.

Hello ANT just to let you know I did a test hover this evening in the back garden, and it seemed fairly stable, so hopefully tomorrow I'll give her a proper test, but looking good so far. So a big THANK YOU to you and Raving Jim for your help.Looking forward to getting some flying in with her now!

Ah good news, this is what forums are for, glad to have been of some help

I'm still waiting for the replacement tail servo and main gear to arrive until I can have another crack at it, hopefully the bits will arrive by the weekend.
