  • Battery connected wrongly, now fried ESC...

Gutted! cant believe that i did it, but i connected a new charged battery the wrong way round on an EC 3 connector to the ESC 25Amp EFLA325HB on my 300x out in the field and it went POP understandably, with a loud crack as well..

Ok i know i know, but do you think this has damaged the Beast x as well? i dont think so, because the ESC is the first in the circuit and is the first thing to satisfy before outputting a control signal to the Beastx?.... Any help guys, hangs head in shame, afternoon ruined and i can't find a UK supplier for this ESC, it has to be the w/S-Bec model...need my baby flying again......

I have a spare 300X esc. It was stripped out of Junior. If you find the servos are goners I have them.

Tell you what, have everything in the two pictures (300X parts) for £60. No BX. No frame. Just what you see.

    List of parts:

Main gear, tail drive and hub complete.

    Vertical and horizontal fin.

    Anti-rotation thing.

    Pair of canopy holders.

Pair tail rod holders (mount on boom).

    Blade spongy thing blade holder.

    Pair follower arms.

    Boom arms and ends.

Linkages minus front servo one (that split and bent).

    25A Eflite esc.

2 pairs of main blade grips. 1 set purchased and in Eflite bag. 1 set on slightly bent f/shaft to keep bits together.

    Swash plate.

    Tail belt guide.

Motor (with new bearings top and bottom), pinion and motor mount with all screws.

3 DS76 servos with balled arms. All working. New gears in the stripped one.

1 DS76T tail servo with boom supports. Working.

    Complete tail unit with blades.

    Tail link rod.

    Boom.

    3 main shaft bearings, new.

Flybarless alignment tool (goes on the head in place of button) free.

2 feathering shaft and screws in Eflite pack.

2 main shaft and screws in Eflite pack.

I've done that. I've separate leads and now connect the red one then check slowly and then connect the black. It takes an accident to make us pay attention.

How do you connect an EC connector the wrong way round? You must of had to force it quite hard. Not criticising you I managed to plug 2 6s 5000mah lipos into each other back when I used bullets. Big bang that one I can tell you. Well done Vikki, can you hurry up and buy some expensive big helicopters so I can have all your bargain spares.

They're sat doing nothing in a box and I want shot without tons of separate mailings so.... Real cheap, about quarter the price of retail. Someone gets a bargain, I gain a bit of cash and workshop space

Ok, finally got the new ESC from GoNitro in new york..fitted it and with heart in mouth connected to battery and Beastx and heard the familiar musical dance meanIng all's well. I then replaced the main gear, main shaft and alloy hub as i had watched the main shaft going wobbly and out of balance.
With all the repairs i had done i fully expected something to be not quite right...BUT...she spooled up and flew perfectly with no wobbling or vibes and lifted off into a 4 metre hover and itook it gently to bed the parts in. I am still only at the point of hovering tail in with this bird and feel more in control of it than i first did. Love it!

BTW the aluminium hub is ******* if you have a blade strike, the blade strike pushes the main shaft sideways and dents the ali hub and makes it go oval shaped and causes out of balance to the main shaft..., the more you fly the worse it gets, there is no titanium hub equivalent that i can find, but it is a very weak spot on an otherwise great 'copter....)
