  • Lost rudder control during flight!?!

My rudder stopped working mid flight, took off was practicing hovering then it locked to the right but managed to land it without damage.
I can't see any damage and the rudder moves fine when batteries are disconnected. When I try to use the rudder the stick just doesn't do anything then it will move to the right and stay there.

Any pointers on what it could be? I think it's got to be electrical but I did have a heavy landing on the previous battery.

Been doing some research and it seems alot of people are having servo's fail on the 300x, might be worth upgrading as i dont want HH to replace with another servo which can fail randomly and after so little flights.

Thanks Joe, mine did have a wag before it stopped doing what it was told, and now it does what it wants.

Cheers for the link, just ordered the savox servo little bit heavier than standard but most of them are.

Had anyone in the thread actually tried the Savox servos yet?

I know they are listed as potential replacements but I didn't think there was any Savox feedback so far.

I didn't see any reviews but i've used savox before, only thing im thinking might be a very slight issue is a extra 5g but it seems people have been putting pretty heavy 20g+ servo's on without problems.

Just a quick note to check. Belt tension. Doesnt relate to the servo issue. But always the first place to look with any undesired tail movement. I had a near one with the 300x on Sunday. 3 flights previous I installed a set of edge carbons blades. Spooled up but vibration was awful. I took into hover, decided um no way!!! And landed. Total run time maybe 20 seconds. Anyway longstory short I balanced them up (0.1grams out on the digital scale) and flew again the next evening. Vibes gone so I wanted to test the blades. Blah blah 3 flights later I was flipping a few feet of the ground and ended up inverted piro flipping. I'd love to take credit but alas it was unintentional... Landed and found the belt to be WAY SLACK. I've been flying helis seriously for 4 years now and have never seen a belt stretch that quick. My raptor can go a season without adjustment! Anyway just a note, I'm sure it was related to the head vibration caused by the blade imbalance, but I'll definitely be keeping a much closer eye on the belt tension. Happy landing folks

My 300x has suffered the same problem, it just packed up, luckily it was on the ground when I noticed it but seems to be a common problem, I'm getting mine replaced under warranty, it does work if you tap it but as soon as you stop tapping it the servo also stops, I was kind of hoping it was a one off, but a little concerned that it may not be man enough for the job now...

After 3 flights with my new 300x same problem of terrible vibration and lost tail control on last flight!! I guess there is a clear problem with the model.

The belt on the 300x is very stretchy mine needed the tension to be re adjusted again after a 2min flight, and seems the replacement tail servo has overheated and locked up again, wont bother with the ds76t this time, think I'm going to go with the savox servo.
