  • New recruit to the 300X

    Hi All,
I've just purchased a 300X and I'm wondering what you would recommend for a spares kit.

    I'm happy hovering with a 130x and have also flown a 450 3D and a trex 250 so I'm not a complete newbie.

    Thanks for any info
    Regards
    Bob

    Welcome to the forum ....

Great little helicopter, i use mine as an expendable machine for practicing new tricks and it's had a very hard life...

However from experience i'd buy plenty of these:-

EFLRDS761 Gear Set For Eflite DS76 Servo

If you can find somewhere that actually has them in stock !!!...

The servo gears are really brittle, i think once i have used up my last three servo gear sets, im going to replace the cyclic servos with some Savox 257 MG's, which i believe have very similar dimensions...

Other than that the items that i have broken are the usual culprits:-

    Feathering shaft
    Main gear
    Main shaft
    Blade grips
    Linkages

I'd also recommend the Lynx 3D plastic blades once/if you break the stock wooden blades, mine flies really smooth with them.

Personally i wouldn't bother with the Carbon Fiber blades, a bit overpriced for this heli...

I'd order some of these too:-

    Turnigy nano-tech 1300mah 3S 25~50C Lipo Pack

A good little battery for the price...

    Have fun...

I'd carry out the loctite mod on the motor (a YouTube search will find it) it involves popping the top off the motor and applying loctite to the motor shaft bearing fixing it to the motor shaft. This will prevent the heli developing vibrations that will affect the AR7200BX which can cause the heli to tilt to one side. A bit of electrical tape inside the canopy will stop the battery scratching the paint too.

With the lynx blades, can you then run a higher h/speed as the supplied woodies only allow you to go to 75 % ?

Thanks everyone for the info and tips, I'm looking forward to less bench time with this heli. My trex250 seems to be constantly in need of fine tuning to get it fly well - it's the flybarred version!
I was quite surprised at how stable the 300 is in the hover, whereas I seem to be constantly " chasing" the 250!

              Blade 300 X
Firstly i apologize if i am on the wrong thread, very new to this, i am after some very welcoming knowledge, i have just obtained a blade 300 x, as this is my first larger helicopter, only ever flown blade mcpx, i am practicing on the phoenix flight simulator software, what i have found on the simulator is the blade 300x pulls constantly to the left, does anybody have any tips on setting up the simulator to address this, or is this how the 300 x flies and i need to get used to it, advice appreciated.

                Rob (I assume )

All (single rotor, clockwise main rotor) helis pull constantly to the left, not just the 300X! It's a side-effect of the tail rotor, which whilst providing counter-torque against the spin of the main blades, is also, in effect, providing a sideways force against the heli which is otherwise in free-floating space. Real full-scale helis do it too, though they generally they drift to the right as they typically have anti-clockwise main rotor blades.

It's called "translating tendency" and you need to give a gentle amount of right cyclic to counteract it. After a while it becomes second nature and in normal flight, you never get to see it anyway.
