Put some carbon main blades on my 300x today and find they have a gap in the blade grip even when screws quite tight. Is this OK or do they need shimming as they move up and down noticeably in the grip?? The grips are also new.

Yes make some shims from an old plastic milk bottle or if you have any sence your credit card before this hobby gets a grip! :-)

Metal shims are fine. Many blades come with metal shims. I also try to shim equally above AND below the blade so that the blade extends directly in line with the centre of rotation. If you shim only above or only below, I think it can cause problems as the blade load from centrifugal force won't be direct through the feathering shaft.Originally posted by kevcov30 View PostThanks boggy. I guess metal washers might wear into the blade over time.
I'm not explaining very well, but hopefully you get the idea ...Tom
