  • Not getting above 3' Blade 200 SRX

I was having a lovely time in my new found flying spot on the 200 SRX. It was going so smoothly i decided to try Intermediate mode. Unfortunately I accidently put it into expert mode and had a small bump with some long grass that bent the tail rotor blades a little.
After bending that back i couldn't get the heli more than 3 feet off the ground! It was flying fine, just couldn't get the thing up in the air!
    Very frustrating.
I checked the power was turned up to 200%. but still no altitude.
Maybe the motor? or the ESC?
I've ordered a new motor just in case.
I have a Rakon head on it and a Hughes 500 canopy. But that's been on for a while with no problems.
    Anyone had this?
Trex 450L Dominator (flown six times crashed twice)
Blade 230s (my hard working trainer)
Blade CPS (for smashing into walls)
Blade SR HUEY (too scared to fly at the moment, the 230s is going to end up in here)
    Phoenix Sim

Sounds like a power issue. For the first few feet, the heli is helped by ground effect a little to gain height. Sounds like yours therefore has lost power somewhere therefore which means it can take off with the help of ground effect, but not get any higher.

Check that everything is tight first. Your cheapest/easiest solution is to box the heli up and send it off to Horizon Hobby in Essex. They'll fix it for you - almost certainly for free, but at worst they'll charge you for the replacement parts.

Have to say though, when I was flying micros, I send a number of helis back to them for fixing - some which had really seen better days - and all were fixed for free!

Say what you like about Blade, but their customer service is known to be excellent!

I did not know that about Blade. I wonder what they would feel about the Rakon head though!
I've tightened everything up. There wasn't much to tighten really.
I'll swap the motor and then contact Blade if that doesn't do it

Is it the standard plastic swashplate? If it is, check that the upper & lower half haven't come apart. They can be pushed back together easily.

            My CPS does that.
This is a Rakon one though and it all looks fine.

Paula, have you fixed it yet? It happened to me a few weeks ago and it was simply that battery. After an unintended sudden stop it refused to lift off again even though it had 60% remaining. A different battery worked fine as did the 'suspect' battery the next day. At a fiver a pop from HK UK store they are cheap enough to replace.

I did try a fresh battery and it was the same. Maybe the problem is with them both?
The tricky thing is i can't check it at home (flat too small)
I'll charge up all 6 of mine and return to my flying site tomorrow.
That would be a nice solution!

Havent got one of these, but is it possible a retaining collar has pushed up, so that you total positive pitch isnt all that much..i.e. can you hold the head and pull it up and down a bit ?

I don't think so. This is a fixed pitch Heli. But the whole rotor head looks normal

Agreed - their support is excellent and they take a sensible approach when it comes to mods.

                        Sorted!

Well i discharged all my batteries and recharged them tightened everything up a bit and BOOM! Perfect!
I suspect the batteries, but i'll probably never know.
                        Thanks for the pointers!
                        Very happy.
                        Cheers!
