  • Spin out and crash

My pal at work has a blade 200. He's just rebuilt it after a crash. Says his heli spun out where he couldn't regain control. Last week he was out during lunchtime having a bit of fun. He came in to land when suddenly the heli spun out again and crashed smashing the frame. I was there, but only seen it crash. He was unsure whether it spun clockwise or anti clockwise. Anyone had this happen to theirs?

    Thanks
    Vinnie

    Yes, unfortunately.
You might like to read up on PoD (Pirouette of Death). Plenty of info on the Blade 200srx Helifreaks page about it.
There are several potential causes, but the majority believe the most common cause is down to a problem with the stock (dual) ESC.
There is a well documented home brew solution called the "dual ESC mod" which also improves tail handling/performance. You will need to buy an additional ESC (which has the correct firmware --available pretty cheap from Hobbyking) and wire it in - not difficult but a bit of a nuisance.
    hope this helps.

Haha! I can't believe this problem has a name POD! I've informed my pal who burst out with laughter. I think he was relieved he can fix the problem by modifying his heli. I think I will do the same to my boys heli as it makes sense before his spins out and possibly causing injury.
Thanks again for the sound advice.
