  • Changing The stock Blades for better lift

What's the general consensus on this You Tube video. https://youtu.be/RESMfqE-73c
It looks like a great idea to me as i did find the lift lacking right on my first flight.
Trex 450L Dominator (flown six times crashed twice)
Blade 230s (my hard working trainer)
Blade CPS (for smashing into walls)
Blade SR HUEY (too scared to fly at the moment, the 230s is going to end up in here)
    Phoenix Sim

      I did yes.
But the guy says changing the blades doesn't change everything about the flying character of the heli, just the lift and i liked that idea. I also liked the idea of not making the main rotor spin faster.
To be honest i'm probably ok with the stock blades.
There seems to be so many upgrades recommended though. Like the gearing and the power boost.
There's also the separate tail rotor ESC mod.
I'm not interested in 3D. I just was it to fly smooth, safe and predictable at the moment.
I'll get some and give it a go.

The thing with learning micros is, there are always so many "upgrades". I would say 95% of them are a waste of time. The main rotors spinning faster is absolutely fine. Fixed pitch helis (like the 200SRX) have main head speeds that are substantially lower than collective pitch anyway - they are well within tolerances for the mechanics.

Chances are you will outgrow this heli in due course - the least you can spend on it the better. Also, mods have a way of coming back to bite you. Costs rise, parts become less easy to come by .. etc.

This comes from experience! I dread to think how much I've wasted on micro upgrades over the years!

Bling is a different thing - if you fancy a new canopy/fancy skids/whatever - cool. But cosmetic parts make no allusions to improve the flying.

I would be careful with loading the motor up too much. I believe the stock esc is a bit marginal anyway and these higher pitch blades will cause the motor to draw more current. Maybe the twin esc mod would be a good idea. But I really wouldn't invest much more in aftermarket upgrades on a trainer heli like this. Just fly it and enjoy it as it is! Don't spend a ton of money on it, save it for a collective pitch heli instead.

For more blade pitch (8 deg vs 6 deg stock), you could try these but seem to be out of stock everywhere at the moment.

          Xtreme Carbon Polymer Main Blade (8 Degree, 1 pair) - 200SRX [B200SR04B8]
SAB Goblin 380 KSE - latest love thang
Lynx OXY 3 - my mini flagship!
Blade 180 CFX - field beater for new moves
Blade Red Bull BO-105 CB 130 X - scale fun flying at the field when the tail isn't broken, which is not often.
          Blade mCPX - sold

Blade Nano QX - house fly of choice
Blade mCX2 - retired but will be back when the kids get a bit bigger

          Spektrum DX8 - for everything
