There doesn't appear to be much love (or hate) for the 200SRX in these pages, only one other thread, so I thought I'd quickly double the thread count.

I've only had this heli a couple of weeks or so and found there is a lack of availability of the E-flight battery in the UK so I bought a couple of Overlander OV-2559s from Fastlad. Not particularly cheap at £12.49 each but next day delivery; thanks FL. They arrived with 45% charge remaining! I topped them up at 2C and after an 8 minute flight landed with 45% remaining. Delighted with the flight time, I guess 10 minute flights are more than possible, one of the advantages of lower head speeds I guess. The Overlanders are slightly fatter than the stock battery but they fit under the canopy without any difficulty at all.

Next job is to up the motor power once I can get my head around the instructions, not the easiest to understand. If I am disappointed in any way it's with the lack of power as it comes out of the box. I've read elsewhere that others are using the 300's motor but nothing yet on how the stock ESC is surviving that upgrade. I'll stick with the software update for the time being.

Ok, it's SR and not CP but so far no maintenance issues to worry about, wish I could say the same about my 130x.

There must be many others flying the 200, what are your thoughts?

Don't know if you've seen this video on upping the motor power, along with the other gain adjustments, but you may find it helpful.

SGD. I hadn't seen that video, many thanks for posting it. Finally I managed to get the motor gain increased doing it the manual way. After an hour of not succeeding I read somewhere that all the D/Rs had to be set at 100%. I guess that makes sense once you think about it but at the time... I've got a DX9 and the other way of doing it is so much easier. Your video is bookmarked for future repeated viewing. The wind is getting up ready for Sunday's weather so no more flying for me today but I did give it a quick squirt of throttle in the back garden so see what the improvement is like. Whilst it may still not leap into the air it certainly no longer lumbers into it, a vast improvement that I can't wait to try out.

Thanks again, my 200 has just got better.

Hi Euclid. I am very new to this game and bought a GT 5889 heli and was promptly told it is useless and just a toy. Sadly, everyone has been proved right and I haven't even managed more than 30 seconds in the air! I am looking at getting a Blade 200 SR X and was wondering what you thought of it?

I have looked at all the reviews and have come to the conclusion that experienced pilots aren't really be interested in it as it is a FB and therefore too tame. I think it is probably just about right for someone like me. You can start off fairly safe in the novice mode and then slowly work your way up.

Hi Ian. You've 2 options in the Blade range for your first Fixed Pitch heli, the mSRx and the 200 SRX. The mSRx is the much smaller of the 2 and is really an indoor heli but handles outdoors OK on relatively still days. The 200 is 3 or 4 times bigger and I wouldn't dream of starting it up indoors in a domestic environment. The mSRx compared to the 200 is more skittish but just soaks-up crashes with little damage. How crash resistant the 200 is I don't know (yet). Would I recommend the 200 as a beginner's heli? Yes if you've the room outside to fly it safely. I've no idea what the RTF transmitter is like (the mSRx's made learning hard work) but with a computerised transmitter the 200 is really docile in beginner mode for those first few hours. It is a natural tendency when you start to fly to want to hover an inch or 3 above the ground - big mistake. Get the 200 light on its skids then quickly a foot or 2 into the air, over grass, and it just sits there for you to practice tail in hovering. Being fixed pitch (as opposed to collective pitch) there's little interest in it from the grown-ups but we all have to start somewhere.

As said, the 200 doesn't get much airtime here because most are not beginners. But I started on a Blade 120sr fixed pitch, and I wish the 200srx had been around when I started.

it really is the perfect beginner heli! Go for it! :-)

              My twopence if helpful.

i am definitely a newbie in this hobby and my interest started again with the s107!!!! Only been in the hobby in June this year.

After speaking to a few people help who has and no doubt help me still, they recommended the Msrx as a starting helicopter due to my only interest at the moment and still is in indoor flying only and the dx6.
Weather in Manchester is 90% rain!!!)

this has helped me and I think I have jumped on the learning curve??!! ( well in my eyes anyway )

i have now purchased a Cpx which is another indoor but a cp helicopter and will hopefully help me to improve.

once I 'master' the Cpx, the door will hopefully be wide open and I should be a free flying bird and budget will be my only limit.

i could be totally wrong here but that is how I look at it.

good luck and enjoy the hobby, there are a lot of helpful people here, as I have found out!!!

I just found this thread and found it super helpful as I plan to buy a 200sr x
As a beginner I have found lots of help and advice here and the 200 has been touted as a great starter heli
