  • 130x main gear

Since upgrading to the spin motor i fairly regularly grind the teeth off the main gear when i dont get T/H flicked in time. To reduce the incidence i have upgraded to the xtreme frame to allow better positioning of the motor with the gear, but just wondered if anyone felt that one of the more expensive aftermarket/upgrade main gears was stronger and therefore didnt fail so easily? Personally i have avoided autorotation gears for this heli as it seems pretty pointless, but this may be a reason to upgrade?

Yes i have the metal A gear. I am wondering about the main gear which is being stripped by the motor pinion which never occurred with the original motor. Just wondered if in anyones experience the aftermarket main gears were more durable and less likely to strip when i dont hit T/H quickly enough? If not then i will carry on with the standard gears.

        130x main gear

I think with an out runner motor its unavoidable stripping the occasional main gear, I've only done one so far but I'm fairly quick to admit defeat and hit TH, most of the time the blades are all but stopped before it hits the deck

It's cheaper to replace a main gear than stalling the motor and blowing the esc.
