This Could Be Expensive !!!

I've a 130x and it's flyin great, rock solid and sooo much fun, so much fun that my 9yr old son wants it to be his first ever collective pitch heli. He was given a MCX2 that was in "as new" shape at our Leominster in-door meet, it took him about 2-3 mins before he was flying circuits and 10mins before he was landing on a tea coaster on a high table in the living room. I got him a MSRX and he's now mastered that with simple circuits, the question is "is the 130X a step too far"!!! I don't want to slow his progess but has anyone else been down this road! Is there any other heli's he needs to get to grips with before the 130X. Any thoughts would be great

If he is flying the MSRX well, it seems to be a logical progression.

I think the 130-X is easier than the msr-x. I doubt he has the discipline to fly it carefully to begin with, until he gets used to it. I'd use a buddy box or tell him he must do exactly as you say. A 130-X that flies ok is quite rare. Mine shakes a lot. The mcpx is more difficult to fly 3D as the tail isn't so well driven, it depends on what you want him to do. As soon as you start on idleup flying the crashes get a lot better and more expensive. Do you really want him showing you up though?

Lol, he wants my Agusta 109 mini titan but I said he needs to fly collective before he gets anywere near the 109! That will be expensive!!!

It depends whose money gets used. Perhaps you need to introduce him to fiscal discipline.

Lol Too late for that, it was incredible how quick he picked up heli flying, not sure if it's down to age, no repair bills or just it's some thing to do with dad-time. Either way he put me to shame and made me very proud at the same time. Kids!!! hehehehhe

I started flying with my Dad 42yrs ago (aged 5yrs) when the first proporsional radio gear came out, you want/try to impress your dad so it helps you along, either that or he's just a smart ass kid hehehehehe (sorry, bit off topic)
