  • Blade 130 and banging my head

Hi All, wonder if anybody out there can help me.
I have had a 130 for a few months now, after a landing into grass where i had grass wind around the tail output shaft i have been having allsorts of problems.
It generally flew ok after that until the front tt drive gear was spat out of the side when spooling her up?
i have replaced front and rear tt drive gears, spat out again, replaced tail boom in case of a split, with new tt shaft, and gears (again)
Vibration was still there, so replaced tail output shaft, tail blade grips, bearings, pivot for shiny alloy ones, spat out front tt drive gear again.

i think i didnt have tail boom all the way home, meaning shaft wasnt fully through gear, replaced tt drive gears and noticed tail boom wasnt all the way in, pushed and seated (i think) correctly and now it seems like the tt drive shaft is too long ie i couldnt refit tail output shaft (or i have managed to push boom in too far)

Anybody know what i have done, and how to cure it.

    Ian.

Check your torque tube is in the right way, long flat to the front. Push your tail boom right in till it stops then pull it out just a bit. Take the torque tube and locate it in the B gear and adjust your tail boom until you have just enough torque tube sticking out of the tail case to fit your C gear, if you have the tail boom pushed in too far the mesh on the A/B gear will be too tight and you'll get vibes. You're blades should move freely without resistance.

Also check your main shaft isn't split by holding the main gear and trying to turn the head. Sometimes tightening the screws in the head and collar will help.

This happened to me once and i found that my tail boom was too far out. I actually split the frame in two and positioned the the tail boom a few mm from all the way in and this sorted it. It also eliminated vibration and tail kick/wag

I have arrived at the same conclusion through a process of trial and error. I have pulled the tail boom out by about 2mm because the drive shaft (I can't really call it a torque tube) was moving backwards and fouling the aluminium spacer tube on the tail shaft.
I haven't tested it yet but will this evening. I now have metal B and C gears on it. (Thanks Kyle, RC Hero).

Thanks for the replies folks, just got back to working on the 130 after a new clutch in the 600 and a near full 450 rebuild,
Another question, are 130 gears glued onto drive shaft, just assembled without and front gear seems to 'vibrate' a little when turned by hand.
Have gone for metal upgrade front gear but left rear 2 as standard plastic

Sure they just float on the shaft and find there own position, mines like that and is as happy as a sand-boy. I did the same as you and just replaced the front gear for the metal gear and left the tail gears as-is, works well.
