Rudder gear stripped after a few minutes on Blade 130

Only got the Blade 130 a couple of days ago, only charged battery to see if it worked ok, had a few short hovers in the house, no crashes knocks or anything and now the gears have been stripped, so much for being a robust Helicopter, contacted Horizon but dont expect much help there, not very helpfull with the Blade MSRX and Nano i pratice on, Ten Pounds for a piece of plastic

You need to upgrade to metal gear £12,
the gears in the end of the tail leave them as plastic, they can be the weak spot as only £3 to replace and 2 in a pack. Main tail drive plastic cog is rubbish TBH every 130 owner has stripped them inc me twice before I upgraded. Now haven't stripped anything even after 3 heavy crashes.

They are the weak link, get the metal upgrade and as said above you'll only ever need to do the tail gears, while there get an upgraded tail pitch slider as you'll want one of them eventually, then fly/crash/repeat...

Cant see how you can get metal gears for 12 pounds anywhere, you dont expect wear like that after a few spool ups, something must have been loose i think, i thought i was doing bad getting 6 weeks out of a MSRX motor, made of butter from China, but this is a joke, was only spinning for a couple of minutes, till it packed in.

That's the bad boy you need, +1 on the tail slider too to much slop and tends to break plastic lug really easily.

Thanks but thats only one part, can you just leave the smaller one as is, seems ok, or do you neeed both to be metal.

Rudder gear stripped after a few minutes on Blade 130

Mine did the same thing on third perfectly flown perfectly landed gentle hover. No tail contact ever.
I led to me being accused by both HH and the shop i purchased it at of crashing/scraping the tail on landings etc and when I denied that, being treated like a lying schoolboy.
To be fair, I emailed Horizon with photos of the unscathed heli and worn part, got no reply as such (I think they were busy moving buildings) but three days later received a replacement plastic gear! So they were great and helpful in the end...
Now using a metal gear, with no issues whatsoever. I think I superglued the tiny metal gear onto the torque tube to stop it falling off but don't quote me on that.

Yep smaller one IS metal anyway so bit will be fine, if you look on here there's plenty of info on how to fit 10 min job and its sorted.

DONT Super glue the little cog to the TT Rod, it doesn't need it and if you need to get TT rod out you will have to strip out boom and rear servo. You can CA little plastic tail gear to TT rod to help it stop spinning on the TT rod but like previously said you NEED a weak link and those cogs are the cheapest weak links on the heli....... hope it helps.

Always keep a weak link somewhere as suggested here and with tail gears being £3 for 2 pairs you cant go far wrong keeping it at the back end
