ok guys not sure what ive done really?, i had a tail wag not huge but it was there so i entered gain mode and reset, fired here up and the tail swung to the left before take off used to do this originally but it corrected itself again before take off, so idled down and gave it more length on the tail bar to give more angle on the pitch to hold it on start up..... but really bad tail vibes right thru to lift off, ok i thought i'll shorten the bar again and re-entered gain and increased again by 1 click stopped the initial jump on start but still bad tail vibes? does anyone have any ideas what the rear blade pitch should be? as im guessing thats whats causing the vibes, so need to get tail pitch right 1st then can sort the gain out even tried balancing blades and no diff? any help advice?

lots of posts on this area.
1.check the tail shaft is'nt bent. Turn the main blades while looking at the tail shaft. The shafts bend really easy. mine was bent but i straightened it.
    2. put a piece of tape on one tail blade. if the vibration is worse put on other blade.
    3. is the tracking ok, if not press the two swash plate halves together with your fingers, you should feel it click back if it was loose.

to set the tail pitch travel,(does not need neutral pitch setting just where max travel should be) disconnect main motor, disconnect tail ball link, from rear of heli push tail pitch slider full left, this is where you want max travel. now put throttle up half way and push full left rudder, you will see the servo go to max travel and stay there. Now adjust the tail control bar so that the ball lines up with the ball link. snap ball link back on.

      Thank you Giles,
      Checked TT shaft perfectly strait,
Tried the tape trick no difference in either blade?,
Not sure what tracking is? Or how to do it,
I have now got full left and right travel at mid stick...... once again thank you for that.
      BUT
I have also discovered a flat spot in the plastic bevel gear could this be causing the vibration through to the tail? I hope this is it as I've stripped it all down and oiled every bearing cleaned every servo just waiting on new bevel gear, any thoughts if this bevel gear could be the vibration issue?

Just more than likely, a metal replacement isn't a bad move then you'll only have to replace the C or D gears in a crash and they are very cheap

are you using the stock main blades without the weights?i use these which were well balanced. how tight are the blade bolts? they should be just tight enough so they dont drop from gravity if holding the heli on its side.
spool up the heli with it held in your hand with the tail blades removed and see if there is excessive vibration,(be careful not too much throttle) there will be a little. You cannot adjust the tracking on this heli, just look at the side of the blades about half throttle, the blades should line up. if they dont then try squeezing the swash plate two halves together that is all that is needed.

Just to clarify, are you spooling up on a smooth surface? If so, the spin to the left is just the torque effect from the main blades, it takes a fraction of a second for the tail gyro to catch up and counter the effect with tail pitch. Does it do it if you take off from carpet or on grass? I fly mine in the living room from a wooden floor, if you spool up carefully, I can avoid the ' wooden floor pirouette'!

You shouldn't need to adjust gain from default, it certainly has little effect until the helicopter is airborne.

Vibration is normally cured by balancing the tail blades, you need to experiment with different sizes of tape, insulation tape works best, trying it on both blades, start with pieces about 6mm square. The original vibration may not be in the tail alone, but adding weight to the tail blade can create a counter resonance effect. Be careful of spending too much time trying to make this heli perfect, it never will be, just fly it and learn with it!

Thanks for the advice, yes when I 1st had it, yes heli did swing on start up but as you say it corrected itself before lift off. Now it doesn't.... Also doesn't make a diff on carpet or concerete. On landing it spins 180 degrees but I have taken off tail servo and cleaned it and noticed its sticking on full travel end point? This may explain why I had a blow out when I over corrected? So new one on order. Tried the tail balance and no difference. I completely removed tail unit but left Tt in and it was ok so def a prob with tail somewhere. Does anyone recommend cnc tail grips, I have rakon slider and tail block so didn't know if this was conflicting with stock grips?.

Some people have reported worse vibrations with upgrade grips, so it's a gamble between spending another £23 and possibly making it worse or finding the real culprit.

If you haven't already done so, check all of the bearings in the helicopter, main shaft bearings, tail shaft bearings, tail grip bearings and even the tiny torque tube bearings in the ends of the tail boom. The stock ones are prone to failure and will cause all sorts of vibrations. Good quality replacements can be bought from

just to clarify , you said the tail was sticking on full travel end point. this is normal if you are holding the heli in your hand, once you start putting the throttle up the gyro goes into head lock mode and when you input rudder it will go full direction and stay there. only when you return throttle to zero and wait a few seconds will the rudder return to neutral position. obviously the rudder will not stick in one full direction once flying (unless it is faulty).

Ah I see oh well least I'll have a spare servo now.... Guess it kinda makes sense now thinking about it. I have noticed there's a little bit of play in the tail boom bearing where it joins the heli but its a real pain to get to. Also when I re inserted boom tt tube seemed tight on rear gear mesh so loosened that back a bit now running smoother just waiting on metal bevel gear at mo.
