  • Grinding?

    Great Heli.
Iv found this one alot better than the first one I bought and returned.

I have put 4 batteries through it in the garden today and really getting the hang of flying it.However sometimes it makes a grinding noise during flight. It has done this since new but thought maybe it will go. As the noise is still happening id like to try and resolve it.

    Any ideas on a fix?

the shaft that runs the tail may need oiling or greasing. Just remove the tail shaft and then pull out the drive shaft and put some oil or grease on there. Its a bit fiddly to get the b gear back on ( the gear that turns the tail drive shaft). mine was making a grinding noise, like a coffee grinder, but since oiling the grinding noise is gone.

Oil the torque drive lightly and check the tail drive gears

Thanks, its only had a few flights from new so must need oiling as can't be anything damaged.

Will white grease do the job?

My A gear has ground away a few thou of the fet on the motherboard. It flies ok but someone suggested spinning up the heli with no blades on and lathing down the crown gear a bit. Reckon I might have a go tomorrow.

I do still get a 'screeching' noise still in IUP. Annoying really.

            Personally I don't rate the 130x for out-of-the-box quality

Yeah I had massive problems with my first 130x, it's a shame because its a great size for the garden etc

Field Effect Transistor. One of the little chips on the servo board!

The other thing I've noticed is that you can get a grinding noise from a bad mesh between the A and B gear. Sometimes the main shaft has a little bit of up/down play in it, changing the meshing between the A umbrella gear and the B gear on the TT. Take a look at your A gear to see if the teeth are getting overly worn.

Oh thanks, I'm with it now.

                    The gears look fine.
I have actually changed the main gear to the upgraded metal version, the mesh looks fine!still looks like new.
Too be honest from the noise its making, I think you guys have hit the nail on the head with the tail.Thats what I will start with and if its still there have a look at the gears.

                    Cheers
