Any thoughts? Seems plausible but surely a carbon fibre fin would achieve the same?

The tail vibration on spool up is just the tail assembly resonating at it's natural harmonic frequency against an underlying imbalance somewhere.

In English This fix doesn't remove the vibration problem, it just changes the natural frequency of the tail assembly, thereby making the vibration less visible. Whilst you won't see the major vibes on spool up - it'll still be there, damaging the bearings, increasing wear etc.

Better solution IMO is to remove the underlying vibration ... 130X Tail Vibration Fix

mine was vibrating quite bad. was not convinced about just stiffening the fin. sheck the the tail shaft , mine was slightly bent,straightened it, (they bend easy), and stuck a piece of tape on one blade, now the vibes are gone. also oil the torque tube, that stopped the funny grinding noise.
