Hang on, how does that explain the aileron servos tipping over to the right at the same time?

Didn't see any mention of tipping etc....i read the title and just asked if the grips had been put back on the right way around...a friend did it while fitting new grips.

Yes only mentioned part way through the thread. Didn't notice at first because of the piroueting. The servos were also jamming in One position and not responding to control input. Tested all of this while holding it in my hand.

The tilting may be normal as the gyro is trying to keep it level.

Are your tail grips fitted correctly?

Not really sure, but I noticed that when I fitted them they could only fit one way, I had to take one off and refit as the links would not fit. Also when I moved the controls it moved ok.

Ok,the little balls on the tail blade grips,are the on the trailing edge of the blade?

Ok, had a reply from hh. Seems i made a silly mistake! I had the metal bevel gear on backwards! Easy mistake really. I had stripped the heli weeks ago to take the bevel gear and tail box to get warranty parts but ended up getting sick of waiting so bought the parts. The bevel gear or A gear has teeth on both sides, and to be honest I did ponder this for ages, and couldnt get it to fit but eventually picked the side that looked correct( I should have drawn a diagram or photo'd before stripping!), this caused the tail to rotate the incorrect way and then, when I installed the grips, and could see the leading edge of the blades were the wrong way round, so I then rotated the grips as i said. It all looked fine when fitted it and spun it up. I tried looking at the fittment of the A gear on the exploded diagram, but couldn't find one and relied on my own best guess. silly boy!! Never mind, you live and learn!

If you put the A gear on upside down,how did you screw it to the shaft?

It came with 2 screws, neither of which were self tapping like the original. I couldnt get the small hole to get anywhere near, so thought that the new and original must be totally different, I didnt have an original. Hmm thinking about this more, may be the excitment of new parts, + 1:am and several vodka and coke's later wasn't such a good idea.

Yeah, getting the A gear is a bit of a trick. James Haley demonstrates in the video below but basically you have to push it up into the upper bearing, them use a screwdriver from above to click it solidly into position.

That's such a poor video...the trickiest thing on a 130 is getting that blasted gear back up and square so you can get the main shaft back on, and he shows how difficult it is by not managing it until the shot fades into the next, where it is magically aligned!
