your heli falls out of the air.

Perfect morning, still, hard frost, clear blue skies and more importantly wife and kids out. Got jobs to do but thought I would put 6 packs through the 130x. Heli has been out of action for last two weeks due to me annihilating the plastic tail case with a heavy 'vertical boom into the ground landing!". First battery flying like a dream. Second battery........pop.........pirouetting.........thr ottle hold.........ground.

What was that.......walk over to the heli..........missing tail grip. Bolt must have come out/loose (Wish I had stripped and loctited now!!! lesson learnt!)........damn no more flying today.

Damage report. Missing tail grip and tail blade, tail spindle bent, nick out of trailing edge of main blade (tail blade must have caught it on the way past!)

Thank god it wasn't the 500 though.................

The question is, do I upgrade the tail blade grips to some 'shiney stuff' or stick with stock?

Hey bad luck mate hope you get it sorted. I am thinking of getting one of these but am dubious as the mcpx was such a dissapointment does this do what it should do? Regards j boy

Completely different animal to the MCPX. Does what the MCPX should have done in the first place. My MCPX is now gathering dust.......can not bring myself to sell it.

My tail grips failed recently - plastic split on both grips. I would have replaced with metal ones, but nobody had them in stock at the time so went with plastic. Will probably replace with metal eventually. From your piccies - looks like plastic failed too. Go metal!

What sort of throttle curves/rpm are people running? I found that my IU2 was far too high, i use IU1 for about 3mins then the last minute in IU2, mines all stock apart from some tail mods and its ballistic

Only had 4 flights on mine so maybe it may spit of the tail grip yet lol

This happened to mine exactly the same pretty sure it was a lack of threadlock on mine as i lost the blade & grip . I would have replaced with metal but there was bad write ups at the time with the Rakon & Microheli grips i think the newer weighted ones have fixed the issues but i have had no problems with the standard ones since i replaced them . Am not convinced. Bolt is missing out of the end of the tailshaft. If just the plastic had split I would have expected to still see the bolt holding it onto the tailshaft!


Just picked the heli up again.........broke the skids too.....doh

To add insult to injury can not find the missing tail blade (bright orange) and grip...........

With mine, the bolts and bearings were left intact - just the plastic had made a bid for freedom! I had the same result though - orange KBDD tail blades got lost in the long grass too

There must be a few in the grass at pheonix Tom my kbdd one & grip are there somewhere as well . I think they fly off further than you think . Mine all went blade . grip & bolt thats why im pretty sure it was a threadlock issue bent the tail shaft a treat as well .

The grass is only 2" high. Blade could be anywhere though. The grass area is surrounded by hedges and fences..........

The heli was upright at the time of loss and the tail blade shot through disc area of the main blades, hence the nick in the main blade. Just so damn annoying. Don't mind crashing when it was my fault, just hate mechanical failures.

Still, gotta take the rough with the smooth. Question is do I charge the 500 and go flyin'.......?

I managed to break a ball off one of the plastic blade grips and thought a couple of quid for new ones would be fine,

Then I saw they were £8
So decided to get some lynx tail blade grips, I'm happy so far other than the silly price for them, but if they outlast plastic grips x3 then they will be worth it

Mate, I reckon if you found all the various bits of heli buried in that grass, you could probably build an entire model!

If the weather near you is anything like what it is here, you settle in to watch the F1 qualy. Else, yup - go flying!

(perhaps check the thread lock on your tail is good though!) ....

Exactly the same happened to me recently, my first tail blade ejection but just FYI metal won't solve the problem as I was using the aluminium RKH tail blade grips.
Now back to stock plastic grips, but the RKH tail pitch slider has been faultless.
