Tail Servo Failure?

So The other day I was flying my 130x fine for a few flights. Plugged in another battery and lifted off then the tail just went, I managed to hit throttle hold but now there seems to be no life from the tail servo at all. I tried it in another RX port and its definitely the servo.

Anyone else had this problem? Might get in contact with Horizon as it shouldn't really fail after less than 40 flights surely?

It depends more on the landings than the flights. You might well find that a wire has broken off inside. This would be due to faulty manufacture. Any part that hasn't been crash damaged should be fit for purpose. I think HH would replace it for you or they should state on their website that servos are only expected to last for 40 flights. If you just email most suppliers and tell them about a failure they will usually replace it. They will also tell you its the first failure they have had.

The white wire broke on mine just as it goes into the motor sadly i pulled it apart and should have just sent it back for replacment. Whether it had got a bit of stick in a crash or fatige I will never know.

One of my cyclics went yesterday,150 odd flights....it had its hardest crash when it went full + pitch while inverted after it got wet after crashing in the grass.

It's cost me £50 as i ordered a Hubsan x4 at the same time...damn you online shops and cash you can't see(paypal)

Fatigue is a fairly common failure but easy to cure. That's if it happens on flexible wire close to where it's soldered. The solder wicks up the wire and you then get a high stress point where the solder meets the flexible wire. The thing to do is to glue this join to the pcb or motor so that there is no possible movement. Use something flexible like silicone. Some servo manufacturers do this but often the blobs of silicone go over the solder joint rather than where they are needed.
