Blade 130x control problems ( help!!!)

Just got a blade 130x i have copied the settings to my DX8 ,
in the throttle hold position everything works fine when you increase throttle the swash moves up smooth and you have full cyclic movement but as soon as you put it in flite mode at zero throttle you have full cyclic movement then once you increase the throttle the right hand front servo drops down the swash tips over as you increase throttle then you have no control of any swash servo's or tail servo untill you drop the throttle back to zero

i don't think its a servo problem because it works perfect at zero throttle or in throttle hold , could this be a transmitter setting ?????????

Hi Phil,

Yes - its a mainboard issue on the 130x. That video was of my first 130x. I sent it back to Horizon Hobby in Essex and they replaced it. The new one worked perfectly. Bizarrely, the symptom is only there on take off as the blades spin up to speed, and BEFORE it's in the air. Once in the air, it will fly fine, but it takes a leap of faith and a quick take-off! So, you have the following options ..

1/. Ignore it, and take off very quickly!
2/. Send it back to HH in Essex. If so, phone first and talk to Garry Brace - perhaps email him this thread.
3/. You can get around the issue using subtrim - see vid below.. (this is a workaround rather than a fix though, the problem is still there!)

I would go for option (2) personally. HH support is excellent!

I had the same problem ,sent it back to H/H and it came back saying that they could find nothing wrong .Then someone told me to reset the transmitter back to factory setting and reset the transmitter to the 130X setting and all was fine and I have had no problem with it since it as been fine once I had reset the Transmitter so try that before you send it back to H/H

Hopefully this could be the problem i think i did this on a new model page but i may have missed a setting , please can somebody post a link or a download so i can copy to my DX8 sd card and give this a try before i send back to H/H

I think that a lot of this problem is caused by vibes. Did you see in that first link from Tom how bad the heli vibrates and that's without blades!! He probably had a bent main shaft.

On my first 130X I never had any of these issues. Then eventually I updated the motor to the spin 8000 and had left the IU 1&2 the same which is like 100% in 2. At 100% the vibrations were immense on the heli and guess what... It started doing the tip to one side thing! I reduce the TC to about 80% no vibrations and tilt on spool up left.

My most recent 130X had loads of issues from the box. Bent TT, locked tail blade grip of the tail shaft. Bent tail shaft etc etc any how all this lead to awful vibes on spool up way over the norm. After replacing these parts the vibrations went and it flew normally. Saying that these vibrations weren't enough to cause the tilt on spool up. So I think it depends on where the vibes are and how bad they are to how affects the 3 in 1 board.

Hi Guys, Just bought a 130X and it's doing something similar. Dx6i is set as per instructions (apart from milder dual rates and pitch curve) and the collective and cyclic work fine when in throttle hold, but on spool up the swash tips backwards. Tried re-binding now going to try a re-set. Failing that, it's going to be trip back to the shop. I'll keep you posted.

Well i have tried everything even binding with the RTF transmitters and other club members transmitters all with the same fault so we now think its the 3 in 1 board

I have now sent the board back to H/H for them to look at , they have great after sales service i am sure they will sort it for me , will keep you posted .

Update from Horizon hobby , they have sent me a new board and a calibration / checklist i have followed there instructions its working fine now ,

Hi Guys, Here's the update.
I tried re-setting the TX and re-binding with no improvement in swash drift. Took heli back to the shop and they exchanged it for a new one, which behaved itself when powered up in the shop. Tried to fly it later that day and the swash drift was back. Took that heli back and spoke to the manager, who said "they all do that, you just have to pop it up fairly quickly" - as per Tom's tip No 1. He then flew it in the shop just to demonstrate, and to give him his due it did fly OK.

I've searched around on here an on helifreaks, and have found reference to the manual addendum which is only available on the US website and not he UK one. The manual goes through calibration, troubleshooting, gyro setup etc.

Using this manual and Tom's tip No.3, I've managed to subtrim out 99% of the swash drift so at least a novice like me can get it off the ground. I've ended up with 7 clicks of subtrim on the aileron, elevator and rudder channels.


I’ll see how I get on with it, there may yet be a call to Horizon.

I have found out the 130x is NOT a helicopter for a novice it takes some setting up and a bit of a "handfull" till you get the hang of it , then its great fun to fly.

Seconded!! The Nano is similar but more twitchy because it's so small.

daft question if I alter the subtrim to get rid of the swash tilt will that then effect the in the air stability ie cause drift
