  • Blade 130x tips

    Hi
Just ordered 130x for my son, would welcome any advice or recommendations on essential upgrades. (have already been made aware of the 'o ring' trick). Also interested to know what packs work best.

    Cheers

Best to keep with same packs imo so there's no changes in power also worth having spare metal gears for the tail drives but keep with plastic tail grips to absorb any sudden shocks
Today's outlook is fine for flying.

      Blade 130x tips

The thing to be careful of with the 130x is the tail gears. They can strip fairly easily if the tail rotor is impeded. Long grass is the usual culprit. Keep a stock of spare C gears.

The only really necessary mod I think is the metal A umbrella gear. The stock plastic one wears out too quickly against the stock metal B gear.

I think o ring and tail slider are the key ones but its pretty good out the box to be fair. For a couple of quid, do the o ring straight away tho.

the 450mah nano packs leave me with 35% left of steady flight after 4.5mins. I bought 6 for around 36 posted.

I kept breaking my tail gears and ran out of spares so as a temporary fix I used a drop of ca glue and stuck it to the torque tube (made sure the ca was dry before I reassembled it) and it has been fine since.

I've had 4-5 crashes with mine and only had one issue with tail gears. That was it slipped on the torque tube. I didn't see an immediate need for metal gears everywhere. One of the best upgrades i've found was the main gear and shaft. So much smoother how it's all metal and upgraded gear. May have something to do with the upgraded swash too but really noticed the difference with the main gear and shaft.

I found the skids a little fragile and upgrades weren't any better so after some advice on here I replaced them with ones for a Trex 250. I had to drill new holes in the skids so they would fit in the frame but so far they are doing well but they are bigger than the originals.

The 130-X is not really meant to be crashed. It will survive some crashes and is much better than a 450 in that respect. Many crashes will affect reliability and need lots of parts. Mine flies very well with only the O ring mods.

No need for upgrades (some of the are harmful) except perhaps o-rings.
Avoid adding weight (heavier batteries and various upgrades). If it flies badly out of the box, just ask Horizon to replace it.

My best upgrades for the 130x where the metal A gear (MUST) and metal tail pitch slider i had 2 plastic one break in flight on me. I also really like the KBDD blades they were better for 3d
