  • E-flite Blade 120SR scale ?

Has anyone got any experience of scale bodies for a 120SR or perhaps point me to a resource that would provide tips etc?

Having learnt the early stuff on mine and now "converted" to a Trex 500 I will soon be buying a 130x for indoor and light wind outdoor / garden flying. My thoughts have turned to doing something with the 120SR.

I have a Twister Medevac which in relative terms flys like a dog (but still has a place in my heart ) and so was looking at the frame and "think" I can probably fit the 120SR working parts into it.

I'm also going to the US later this month, and could buy an MIA MD500 body while I am there but have seen a variety of reviews on the weight being an issue beyond that of the expected reduction from a scale body. I do have the xtreme motor, which may help negate this, but I was looking for comments on quality etc. The website - not suprisingly, looks enticing!

    Hiya mate,

Im not a scale man, I dont know what a Twister Medevac is either so cant really comment much on that - However, I have owned a 120SR and while it is a great bird for learning and all that, I wouldnt recommend it for anything more than that. It depends what you want out of your scale model to be honest, a 120SR wont really fly outdoors in anything but the absolute calmest conditions. As such, id recommend putting that scale body on a 130x more than a 120SR purely because its collective pitch.

        Hi.

Yeah - I agree about the training aspect of the 120SR - although I do regularly fly outside with it (with the head set to the longer balls)and I am suprised as to how well it flies with a light wind - but agree no wind is better! It's mainly why I'm getting a 130x as they really do fly well outside and can quickly get some stick time in the garden without needing the space my trex 500 needs.

But with that occuring, i can see my 120SR will go into a box - hence the desire to "do something with it"...

The link is to a "commercial" retailer of scale body kits that is US based - their postage pricing makes UK rather expensive - but might pick one up while in the US.. The medevac is an old co-axial I have in a box. The frame is really very light, although clearly heavier than the stick tail of the standard 120SR, I am hoping the upgraded motor will cope. I've also seen that others have put 2 x 500mAh lipos in parallel to extend flight times in scale bodies.

It really is just a bit of fun rather than let the 120SR sit on the shelf.

Try this website, I expect he does something that'll fit a 120SR http://darthdrk.4t.com/

I have had a couple of his fuselages, they are good for the price but do need a bit of work to get them fitted.

So this is what I got. I've fitted the Xtreme Productions motor - although I am not convinced is any better than stock - and it flys well - but eats the stock battery. I'm borrowing a 1c 1000mAh battery later this week to see how well that performs as it definitely feels the extra weight.

I'm also intrigued to see if it will fit my 130x. The tail may need some modification but I think it might well go in.

I'm intrigued. Where did you get it from? I'm in the same position, since I started flying my raptor I haven't looked at my 123sr
