  • No tail movement

Took the 180 for its first flight today - landed a little tail heavy - now got no movement from the tail - any ideas? When I manually rotate the main gear I get no movement in the tail.

Please don't tell me I've wrecked it after the first flight!

I don't know much about the 180 but it sounds as if you have stripped a tail drive gear.

Thanks for the response. Does anyone know if there is an upgraded version of this part? Happy to buy the standard part but if they are going to be susceptible to breaking I'd rather buy a metal upgrade if there is one?

More likely to have broken the TT on the 180, but could be the gears too. Only way to find out is to remove the tailcase and inspect. It's a very easy job on this heli. Literally one screw holds it on the boom. The obvious upgrade is a Lynx clutched TT. You can get metal gears too, but I wouldn't bother, the stock plastic ones are actually quite tough. Get some servo saver arms too before you crash and strip the servo gears.

Thanks. Will get the tail off for inspection. Gears look fine though.

That's the one and Lynx also make the servo saver arms. Some make their own DIY with mixed results. The Lynx ones work for sure - saved mine a few times!

Nothing worse than a busy weekend and not being able to get to the heli! Anyway parts ordered, will get them fitted asap.
