  • Scorpion ESC placement

    Hi Guys,

After some problems with pulsing motor, i decided to get a Scorpion esc (kindly supplied by Chugga-Bug)..

I would very much appreciate it if you could give me an idea of where you guys fitted yours on your Beam (as its considerably longer and bigger than my Align esc)..

I had my Align on the bottom tray, but there is no way this one is going to fir there..

Any advice/photos would be much appreciated

    Cheers,

    Mo

These 450 size models are a bit of a design failure when it comes to the placement of the electronics. The t-rex 450 se v1 and v2 had the space under the battery tray for the esc but the new sport doesn't. To have to strap the esc to the side of the frame is a definite after thought imo.

With the Scorpion ESC.. it is quite a bit larger than the standard align, so on the beam the side is probably the best place for it to be. Fitting it on the side I find that it helps keep it cool, and with the 9257 servo on the other side it has helped in keeping it pretty much balanced.

The standard align esc still fits nicely under the lipo battery tray/shelf on my sport.. though if it were to have the scorpion, I think I would need to extend the shelf to accommodate it.

I think you're right Andy.. With the Beam, the Align esc fits perfectly on the lower tray.. However, the recommended Scorpion esc is of such size that even when i just tried to find a suitable way of mounting it on the side, its still awkward.. The motor wires have to go around the back and between the frames.. Which made me remove the rx and rethink the whole layout of the wires.. Pain in the back side imho especially having to connect the motor wires inside the frame..
